      Heat Pump Storage Hot Water

The Stiebel Eltron SHP-O 300 Plus stores hot water in a 300L cylinder and uses heat pump technology to heat the water efficiently.

Unlike a standard electric storage hot water system that relies mainly on direct electric element heating, a heat pump uses surrounding air as the main heat source. This can make it a strong option for customers wanting a larger electric hot water upgrade, especially where the site is suitable and the unit is installed correctly.

      Efficient Heat Pump Hot Water

The SHP-O 300 Plus has a listed COP of 4.21 under EN16147 / A20 testing. COP is a laboratory efficiency measure that compares heat output to electrical input under set test conditions.

Real-world performance depends on ambient temperature, hot water usage, installation location, airflow, settings, tariff setup and whether the auxiliary heater is used.

      R290 Refrigerant

The Stiebel Eltron SHP-O 300 Plus uses R290 refrigerant, also known as propane. R290 is a natural refrigerant with low global warming potential.

Because R290 is flammable, refrigeration-related work must be carried out by appropriately qualified contractors. Normal plumbing and electrical installation requirements still apply.

      Built-In Wi-Fi Control

The SHP-O 300 Plus can be connected to the MyStiebel App, allowing the customer to monitor and control hot water settings from a smartphone or tablet.

The app can support features such as temperature adjustment, timer functions, hot water boost and system monitoring, depending on setup and connectivity.

      Solar PV Compatibility

The Stiebel Eltron SHP-O 300 Plus is solar PV compatible using SG Ready functionality. This can help the unit operate in a way that better uses self-generated solar electricity where the home has a suitable solar PV system and the installation is configured correctly.

Solar PV integration depends on the electrical setup, system configuration and installer requirements.

      Off-Peak Operation Option

The timer functionality available through the app can help customers manage when the system operates.

This may be useful for homes trying to align hot water heating with solar production, daytime operation or suitable electricity tariff windows. Actual running costs depend on energy rates, settings, usage and household conditions.

      Multiple Operating Modes

The SHP-O 300 Plus includes controls for boost, pairing and emergency operation. Status LEDs make operation easier to monitor at the unit.

The smart control setup gives customers practical options for everyday use while still keeping the system simple to operate.

      Electric Boost Element

The unit includes a 1.5 kW auxiliary heater. This can support hot water recovery when needed, such as during higher demand or cooler operating conditions.

The auxiliary heater should not be treated as the main efficiency feature. The heat pump is designed to use ambient air heat as the primary heat source where conditions allow.

      Plug or Hardwired Electrical Requirement

The Stiebel Eltron SHP-O 300 Plus requires a 1/N/PE 220–240 V 50 Hz power supply and only a 10A connection is required according to Stiebel Eltron’s product information.

Electrical work, power point changes, circuit changes or compliance upgrades are not included unless selected or arranged separately.

      Auto Hygiene Function

The SHP-O 300 Plus includes an automatic hygiene function to help maintain water quality.

This is a useful feature for stored hot water systems, especially where the system is being managed through programmed operation or lower-energy running patterns.

      Quiet Operation

The Stiebel Eltron SHP-O 300 Plus has a listed sound pressure level of 47 dB(A) at 2 m. It is designed for quiet operation, with no compressor noise in the airflow and optimised recirculation air mode.

Noise impact still depends on the installation location, surrounding walls, nearby windows, fences, acoustic reflections and local site conditions.

      Indoor or Outdoor Installation

The SHP-O 300 Plus can be installed indoors or outdoors where suitable. Indoor installation requires appropriate room volume and ventilation, while outdoor installation requires correct clearances around the grille and suitable weather, drainage and service access conditions.

Stiebel Eltron lists a minimum indoor space requirement of 13m³ and an outdoor clearance requirement of 500 mm either side of the grille. The installation guide should be checked before ordering or installation.

      Water Pressure and PLV Requirements

Water pressure must be checked before installation. The SHP-O 300 Plus has a listed PTR valve setting of 850 kPa, and a pressure limiting valve may be required depending on the property’s incoming water pressure, the selected valve kit and the installation requirements.

High water pressure, missing valves or non-compliant existing pipework can affect installation scope and final cost.

      Drainage and Condensate Requirements

Heat pumps produce condensate during operation. The installation location must allow suitable condensate drainage in addition to standard hot water system safety valve discharge requirements.

Drainage changes are not included unless selected or arranged as part of the installation package.

      STCs and Government Incentives

Heat pump hot water systems may be eligible for STCs or government incentives depending on the product, installation date, location and program rules.

Eligibility, rebate value and availability can change. Any incentive should be checked before purchase and should not be treated as guaranteed unless confirmed as part of the checkout or installation process.

      Clearance Requirements

Correct airflow is critical for heat pump performance. The SHP-O 300 Plus needs suitable installation clearance so the unit can draw and discharge air properly.

Poor airflow, tight enclosures, blocked grilles or unsuitable indoor spaces can reduce performance and may make the installation non-compliant or unsuitable.

      Stiebel Eltron SHP-O 200 Plus vs SHP-O 300 Plus

The Stiebel Eltron SHP-O 200 Plus is the smaller 200L model, while the SHP-O 300 Plus is the larger 300L model.

The 200L model may suit smaller to medium households with moderate hot water usage. The 300L model may be better for larger households, higher usage, multiple bathrooms or homes wanting more stored hot water capacity.

The right size depends on the number of people in the home, shower habits, fixture flow rates, tariff setup, recovery requirements, available space and whether the home wants to maximise heat pump operation during solar production windows.

Stiebel Eltron SHP-O Plus vs SHP-O Premium

The SHP-O 300 Plus is part of the SHP-O Plus range and is suited to many standard Australian climate zones.

The SHP-O Premium range includes active defrost and is designed for broader climate suitability, including very cold climates. For Brisbane and Gold Coast homes, the SHP-O 300 Plus may suit many properties, but installation location, airflow, local conditions and operating requirements should still be checked before purchase.

Stiebel Eltron SHP-O vs Standard Electric Storage

A standard electric storage system uses an electric element to heat water directly. The Stiebel Eltron SHP-O 300 Plus uses heat pump technology to draw heat from the surrounding air, with an auxiliary element available when required.

The SHP-O 300 Plus may be a better option for customers wanting a larger, more efficient electric hot water upgrade with app control and solar PV compatibility. A standard electric storage system may still suit customers wanting a simpler lower upfront cost replacement where heat pump space, airflow, noise, drainage or electrical requirements are not suitable.

It does not include labour, call-out fees, electrical work, plumbing work, fault finding, removal, reinstallation, testing, travel, downtime, damage caused by incorrect installation, or any other associated costs. Warranty may be declined where the element has been incorrectly installed, dry-fired, modified, damaged, connected to incorrect voltage or wiring, affected by power issues, used in unsuitable water conditions, or installed by an unlicensed person.

Proof of purchase, installer details, electrical licence details, photos, and/or return of the faulty element may be required before a warranty claim is approved.

      **Tempering valve information:
Where a hot water system is capable of delivering water above 50°C, a compliant tempering valve must be installed to control the temperature delivered to personal hygiene fixtures such as showers, baths, basins, and bathroom outlets. This helps reduce the risk of scalding and assists with meeting plumbing compliance requirements.

A tempering valve blends hot and cold water to deliver a safer controlled outlet temperature to required fixtures. The hot water unit itself may store water at a higher temperature, but the water delivered to personal hygiene outlets must be controlled where required by plumbing regulations.

If your property already has a suitable, compliant tempering valve installed, your licensed plumber can assess whether it is appropriate for use with the new hot water system. Existing valves may not always be suitable due to age, condition, compliance requirements, valve type, location, or system compatibility.

If a compliant tempering valve is not already installed, or if the existing valve is unsuitable, one must be supplied and installed by a licensed plumber as part of the hot water installation.

Tempering valves are not automatically included with every supply-only hot water unit unless specifically selected, listed as included, or purchased as part of a suitable valve kit. If a tempering valve is required, please purchase the appropriate valve kit with your order or arrange for your licensed installer to supply and install the correct tempering valve on site.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the installation is completed by appropriately licensed trades and that all required valves, fittings, electrical work, plumbing work, and compliance requirements are allowed for as part of the installation.

      Optional Installation, Organised for You

Want the product supplied and the installation organised in one simple order? On eligible products and in selected service areas, Installed Today can arrange installation through a licensed installation partner at clear, upfront install rates.

You pay Installed Today for the selected product and install package, and we pay the assigned contractor on your behalf. That means one checkout, one package summary, and a smoother process from order to installation.

Why Choose an Installed Today Install Package?

      Clear upfront install pricing
Our install package builder shows the available install option and selected add-ons before checkout, so you can review the package total before placing your order.

      We organise the installation
Once your order is placed, we help coordinate the installation with a licensed installation partner in your area.

No need to pay the contractor separately for the selected package
You pay Installed Today for the product and selected install package. We then pay the assigned contractor on your behalf for the included installation service.

      Built for common replacement jobs
The process is designed for suitable like-for-like replacement installs where the existing setup, access and compliance requirements match the selected package.

Add-ons shown before checkout where possible
If your answers indicate that a valve kit, access add-on or other selected extra may be required, these are shown in the package before you add it to cart.

      How It Works

      Step 1: Choose your product
Select the hot water system you want to order, including the right size, model and kW rating where applicable.

Step 2: Build your optional install package
Answer a few quick questions about your existing system, location, access and setup.

Step 3: Review your package total
Your selected product, installation option and any selected add-ons are shown before checkout.

Step 4: Pay once through Installed Today
Complete your order online. Your payment covers the product and the selected install package shown in your cart.

Step 5: We coordinate the install
Where the job is suitable and installation is available, we assign a licensed installation partner and help organise the next steps.

      Important Installation Notes

Installed Today supplies the product and helps arrange installation through licensed installation partners where available. Installation is only available on selected products and in eligible service areas.

The install package price applies to the selected installation scope shown at checkout. Final suitability still depends on site access, existing plumbing or electrical setup, valves, drainage, compliance requirements, product suitability and any extra work required.

If something outside the selected package is needed, it will be discussed before proceeding.

Supply-only orders do not include installation, old unit removal, disposal, valve kits, electrical work, plumbing alterations or compliance upgrades unless these are clearly selected or included in your order.

A Simpler Way to Buy Hot Water, Filters, Pumps and Plumbing Products

Buying a new hot water system, water filter, pump or plumbing product should be clear, simple and easy to organise.

Installed Today helps you compare products, check supply-only pricing and, where available, build an optional installation package before checkout. That means you can choose the product, review the available options and order with more confidence, without the usual back and forth just to understand the starting price.

Whether you already know exactly what you need or you are still comparing options, Installed Today gives you a clearer way to buy the right product for your home, budget and timing.

      Why Customers Choose Installed Today

      Supply Only or Optional Installation

Choose the product on its own, or add installation where available on selected products and in eligible service areas. This gives you the flexibility to order the way that suits you best.

      Clear Pricing Before Checkout

See the product price upfront, then review available installation options and common add-ons before placing your order. You can check the package total before checkout, instead of waiting on basic pricing just to get started.

      Product Details That Actually Help

Key specs, sizing details, warranty information, product features and suitability notes are shown clearly, making it easier to compare products properly before you buy.

      Common Installation Add-Ons Available

Where relevant, you can add common installation extras such as valve kits, bases, access-related items, removal, electrical options or other site-specific upgrades before checkout.

Built Around Brisbane and Gold Coast Homes

Our product and installation options are selected with common Brisbane and Gold Coast homes in mind, including local water quality, access issues, plumbing layouts, replacement requirements and typical installation conditions.

      One Simple Order

Add the product and selected options to cart in one order, instead of trying to organise separate suppliers, installers, parts and payments yourself.

      Practical Help Before You Buy

Not sure which size, model or installation option is right? Installed Today gives you a clearer path to compare your options before you order.

Designed to Make Your Decision Easier

Installed Today is built for customers who want a faster, clearer and more convenient way to buy.

Instead of guessing what is included, waiting for basic pricing or trying to work out which extras may be needed, you can review the product, compare your options and move forward with confidence.

Choose supply only if you just need the product.

Choose an optional supplied and installed package where installation is available and you want the product and selected install options organised in one order.

Add common extras before checkout if your job needs additional parts, removal, access support or site-specific options.

It is a simpler way to organise the product, the selected extras and the parts of the job that matter most.

      Important Installation Note

Installation availability, inclusions and add-ons vary by product type, service area, site access, existing services, selected options and property requirements.

Some jobs may require additional work, upgrades or checks before installation can proceed. Final suitability may need to be confirmed based on site conditions, plumbing, electrical requirements, valves, drainage, access and compliance requirements.

Supply-only orders do not include installation, old unit removal, disposal, valve kits, electrical work, plumbing alterations or compliance upgrades unless these are clearly selected or included in your order.

      Fast Delivery and Install-Aligned Shipping

Installed Today makes delivery simple, whether you are ordering supply-only or choosing an optional install package.

For supply-only orders, you can select from available delivery options at checkout. For eligible orders with installation selected, shipping is included and coordinated to align with your selected installation period where possible.

      Delivery Options

      Same Day Delivery

Same day delivery may be available for selected hot water systems in Brisbane and Gold Coast metro areas when ordered before 8:00am.

Availability depends on stock, courier capacity, delivery location, product type and safe transport conditions.

      Express Delivery

Express delivery is available on selected products and locations, with an estimated delivery timeframe of 1–4 business days.

      Standard Delivery

Standard delivery is available on selected products, with an estimated delivery timeframe of 2–8 business days.

      Free Shipping with Installation

When you select an eligible installation package, delivery is included as part of the supplied and installed order.

Your product delivery will be organised to align with your selected installation period where possible, helping avoid separate courier timing, storage issues or delays between delivery and installation.

      Fast Metro Delivery

Most hot water orders in metro areas are delivered quickly, with many arriving within 1 business day depending on stock, location, order time and courier availability.

      Weather and Transport Delays

Hot water systems are large, heavy products and cannot always be transported safely during rain or unsafe handling conditions.

Delivery timeframes may be affected if wet weather impacts loading, unloading, transport access or safe delivery conditions.

      Express Delivery Refund

If your express delivery order takes longer than the estimated 1–4 business day express timeframe, your order will move to the standard 2–8 business day delivery timeframe and your express shipping charge will be refunded automatically.

      Order Tracking

We will send your delivery details once your order has been dispatched or scheduled.

For supplied and installed orders, delivery timing may be coordinated around your selected installation period rather than sent as a separate courier-only delivery.
