BOILING, CHILLED & SPARKLING WATER GUIDE

Chilled & Boiling Water Taps for Kitchens, Offices & Entertaining Areas

Chilled and boiling water tap systems use compact under-bench appliances to provide filtered water at the tap without relying on kettles, bottled water, countertop chillers or separate filter jugs.

Depending on the selected system, the tap can provide instant hot and ambient filtered water or chilled, ambient and sparkling filtered water.

Installed Today supplies under-bench filtered water systems across supported mainland Australian markets, with supplied and installed options available on selected systems in eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas.

Current range at a glance: the Puretec SPARQ H2 provides instant hot and ambient filtered water, while the Puretec SPARQ S5 provides chilled, ambient and sparkling filtered water. The current collection does not contain one product that provides both boiling and chilled water from the same under-bench unit.

SPARQ H2 Hot + Ambient
SPARQ S5 Chilled + Sparkling
0.1 Micron* Ultra Z Filtration

*Puretec specifies a nominal 0.1 micron rating for the current Z1-R Ultra Z filtration cartridge.

MODEL COMPARISON

Puretec SPARQ H2 vs SPARQ S5

System Water Functions Output Main Use
SPARQ H2 Hot + ambient filtered Up to 60 cups/hour Tea, coffee, cooking and instant hot water
SPARQ S5 Chilled + ambient + sparkling filtered Up to 100 × 200ml glasses/hour Cold drinking water and sparkling water
SPARQ H2

Puretec SPARQ H2 Instant Hot & Ambient Filtered Water

The Puretec SPARQ H2 combines an under-bench heated water appliance, drinking-water filtration and dedicated designer tap.

It supplies filtered ambient water or instant hot water for drinks and kitchen use without waiting for a kettle to boil.

Puretec currently specifies an adjustable hot-water tank temperature of approximately 60°C to 98°C.

HOT WATER OUTPUT

Up to 60 Cups of Hot Water per Hour

Puretec rates the SPARQ H2 at up to approximately 60 cups of hot water per hour under its stated operating conditions.

This makes it relevant to kitchens, offices, staff rooms, reception areas and entertaining spaces where repeated hot drinks are prepared throughout the day.

Actual recovery depends on water temperature, settings and use.

HOT WATER SAFETY

SPARQ H2 Includes Hot-Water Safety Features

Near-boiling water requires more safety consideration than a normal kitchen mixer.

The current SPARQ H2 includes a safety lock on the hot-water tap together with thermal and water-pressure protection.

Children and other users should still be made aware that the dedicated tap can dispense very hot water.

SPARQ S5

Puretec SPARQ S5 Chilled, Ambient & Sparkling Water

The Puretec SPARQ S5 is the chilled-water option in the current Installed Today collection.

It provides filtered ambient water, chilled still water and chilled sparkling water from its dedicated tap.

Current Installed Today options include the SPARQ S5 with Chrome or Black tap finishes.

CHILLED WATER

SPARQ S5 Chills Water Down to Approximately 2°C

Puretec's current specification lists a chilled-water temperature down to approximately 2°C.

Still water can be selected as ambient or chilled, while sparkling water is supplied chilled.

This removes the need to keep filtered-water bottles or jugs in the refrigerator for normal everyday use.

SPARKLING WATER

Built-In Sparkling Water with Replaceable CO₂

The SPARQ S5 uses a replaceable CO₂ canister to carbonate filtered, chilled water as it is dispensed.

The CO₂ supply is a consumable and needs periodic replacement depending on household or workplace use.

Customers choosing S5 should therefore consider both filter-cartridge servicing and CO₂ replacement as ongoing ownership requirements.

FILTERED WATER

SPARQ Systems Include Drinking-Water Filtration

Current SPARQ H2 and S5 systems use Puretec's Z1-R Ultra Z cartridge.

Puretec specifies a nominal 0.1 micron filtration rating and product-specific reduction performance for the cartridge.

Exact contaminant-reduction claims should remain tied to the current Z1-R product specification rather than assuming every under-bench filter performs identically.

UNDER-BENCH APPLIANCE

The Water Appliance Sits Inside the Kitchen Cupboard

These systems are more than a tap.

The visible tap connects to an under-bench appliance, filtration cartridge, plumbing and electrical supply.

SPARQ S5 also needs space for its CO₂ canister and regulator.

Measure available cupboard space before ordering rather than checking the tap dimensions alone.

CUPBOARD SPACE

Check Waste Pipes, Drawers & Storage Before Ordering

Under-sink cupboards are often already occupied by waste pipes, dishwasher hoses, bins, drawers and normal kitchen storage.

The SPARQ appliance and filtration equipment need enough usable space for installation and future servicing.

The S5 also requires enough room for its carbonation equipment.

VENTILATION

Under-Bench Ventilation Is Important

Both heating and chilling appliances generate heat inside the kitchen cupboard.

Puretec requires adequate cupboard ventilation and notes that additional ventilation openings may be required where natural cross-flow is insufficient.

Cabinet design should therefore be reviewed before installation rather than sealing the appliance inside an unventilated cupboard.

POWER SUPPLY

Chilled & Hot Water Systems Need Electricity

The under-bench appliance requires access to a suitable electrical supply.

Current SPARQ H2 data lists a 10A, 220–240V supply and maximum power around 1300W.

Current SPARQ S5 data lists 220–240V operation and maximum power consumption around 100W.

If no suitable power point is available, electrical work may be required separately.

WATER PRESSURE

Check Mains Water Pressure Before Installation

System Current Published Pressure Range Important Note
SPARQ H2 Approx. 172–500kPa Pressure control may be required where supply exceeds limits
SPARQ S5 Approx. 138–500kPa Designed for mains/town water supply
TAP HOLE

Benchtop or Sink Drilling May Be Required

A dedicated SPARQ tap needs a suitable mounting hole in the sink or benchtop.

Current Puretec data specifies approximately 35mm for the H2 and 26mm for the S5.

Existing tap holes should be measured before ordering.

Stone, porcelain and specialist benchtop materials may require drilling by an appropriately equipped trade.

FILTER SERVICING

Replace the Water Filter as Required

The filtration cartridge is a consumable component.

Service life varies with water quality, water consumption and the exact system specification.

Filter replacement is separate from servicing the heating, cooling or carbonation appliance.

H2 OR S5?

Choose by the Water You Actually Want

Choose H2

When instant hot drinks, hot cooking water and ambient filtered drinking water are the priority.

Choose S5

When chilled drinking water and sparkling water are the priority.

Need Both?

The current Installed Today SPARQ range does not provide boiling and chilled water from one single appliance, so confirm the desired functions before ordering.

KITCHEN USE

Chilled & Hot Filtered Water for Home Kitchens

Under-bench water appliances can simplify kitchen routines by moving common drinking-water functions directly to the tap.

H2 is particularly useful for tea, coffee and cooking, while S5 suits households that frequently use chilled still or sparkling water.

The main trade-off is additional cupboard equipment, servicing, electricity use and installation complexity.

OFFICES & STAFF ROOMS

Under-Bench Water Systems for Offices

Instant hot or chilled water can also suit offices, reception areas, showrooms and staff kitchens.

Repeated hot-drink use can make the H2 more convenient than a shared kettle, while the S5 provides chilled and sparkling filtered water without storing bottles in a refrigerator.

Check expected usage against the published system output before selecting a domestic-scale appliance for a busy workplace.

BUTLER'S PANTRY & BAR

Premium Water Taps for Entertaining Areas

SPARQ systems can suit butler's pantries, home bars and entertaining areas where a dedicated filtered-water station is desirable.

S5 is particularly relevant where chilled and sparkling water are used regularly for entertaining.

H2 suits secondary kitchen areas where instant hot drinks and ambient filtered water are more useful.

3-WAY MIXER OR SPARQ?

Chilled & Boiling System vs 3-Way Filtered Mixer

SPARQ System

Uses an under-bench powered appliance to heat or chill water and includes dedicated filtered-water functionality.

3-Way Mixer

Provides normal hot, cold and filtered water but does not itself heat water to near-boiling or mechanically chill it.

Choose by Function

If filtered ambient water is enough, a 3-way mixer may be simpler. Choose SPARQ when heating, chilling or sparkling functionality is actually required.

PRACTICAL CHILLED & BOILING WATER GUIDANCE

Choose the Water Functions First, Then Check the Kitchen

The current Installed Today range splits into two clear applications: SPARQ H2 for instant hot and ambient filtered water, and SPARQ S5 for chilled, ambient and sparkling filtered water.

Compare water functions, expected usage, cupboard dimensions, ventilation, electrical supply, pressure, tap-hole requirements, filtration servicing, CO₂ requirements and installation access before ordering.

Do not choose the system purely by tap appearance. The under-bench appliance and its installation requirements are the most important differences between these products and a normal filtered-water mixer.

Boiling, Chilled & Sparkling Water System FAQs

Common questions about choosing, ordering and installing boiling, chilled and sparkling filtered water systems for instant hot drinks, cold water and sparkling water at the kitchen or office tap.

What is a boiling and chilled water system?

A boiling and chilled water system is an under bench unit connected to a dedicated tap that can provide instant boiling, chilled, ambient or sparkling filtered water depending on the selected model. These systems are commonly used in kitchens, offices, staff rooms and entertaining areas.

What is the difference between boiling, chilled and sparkling systems?

Boiling water systems provide instant near-boiling filtered water for tea, coffee and cooking. Chilled systems provide cold filtered water on demand. Sparkling systems add carbonation for sparkling filtered water. Some models combine multiple functions in one tap and under bench unit.

Do boiling and chilled water systems filter the water?

Many boiling, chilled and sparkling systems include or require a compatible water filter to help improve taste, odour and water quality. Filter requirements depend on the selected product, water source, installation setup and manufacturer recommendations.

Do I need plumbing for a boiling or chilled water system?

Yes. These systems usually need to be connected to the cold water supply under the sink or nearby. Installation can require suitable pipework, isolation valves, pressure control, fittings and enough space for the under bench unit and filter setup.

Do I need electrical power for a boiling or chilled water system?

Yes. Boiling, chilled and sparkling water systems require a suitable power supply for the under bench unit. Electrical requirements vary by model, and electrical work is not automatically included unless shown in the selected installation option or chosen separately.

Can a boiling water tap replace my kettle?

A boiling water tap can reduce the need for a kettle by providing instant hot filtered water for drinks and food preparation. Suitability depends on the selected system, household use, water temperature, safety features and available under bench space.

Are boiling water taps safe?

Boiling water taps are designed with safety features that may include child-resistant operation, insulated tap bodies or controlled flow depending on the model. The selected product should be installed correctly and used according to the manufacturer instructions.

Does a chilled water system need ventilation?

Yes, chilled and sparkling under bench units usually need suitable ventilation because the unit generates heat while chilling water. Poor ventilation can affect performance, reliability and cupboard temperature, so the installation space needs to be checked before installation.

Does a sparkling water system need a gas bottle?

Sparkling water systems usually require a compatible CO2 cylinder or gas bottle to carbonate the water. The cylinder type, location, replacement process and availability depend on the selected system and installation setup.

How much under sink space do I need?

Space requirements vary by model. You need enough room for the under bench unit, filter, hoses, fittings, power connection, ventilation clearance and future servicing access. Chilled and sparkling systems usually need more space than simple under sink filter systems.

Can these systems be installed in an office or workplace?

Yes. Boiling, chilled and sparkling water systems are popular in offices, staff kitchens, showrooms and commercial kitchenettes. Suitability depends on usage demand, available space, plumbing, power, ventilation, filter requirements and site access.

Do boiling and chilled water systems need filter changes?

Yes. Most systems use water filters or cartridges that need replacement over time. Replacement timing depends on the system, filter type, water usage, water quality and manufacturer recommendations.

Do boiling and chilled water systems need servicing?

Yes. These systems may need ongoing servicing, filter replacement, descaling, CO2 cylinder replacement for sparkling models and general checks to help maintain performance. Service requirements vary by model and usage.

Can I buy a boiling or chilled water system supply only?

Yes. Choose supply only if you already have a licensed plumber, electrician or suitable installer arranged. Supply-only pricing is for the product only and does not include installation, electrical work, plumbing alterations, filters, fittings, ventilation changes, drainage, cupboard modifications or removal of existing equipment unless selected separately.

Can I order a boiling or chilled water system supplied and installed?

Supplied and installed options may be available for selected boiling, chilled and sparkling water systems in eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas. Availability depends on your address, under bench space, plumbing, power supply, ventilation, access and site requirements.

Does installation include electrical work?

Electrical work is not automatically included unless shown in the selected installation option or chosen separately. If a suitable power outlet is not already available, a licensed electrician may be required before or during installation.

Does installation include cupboard modifications or ventilation changes?

Cupboard cutting, ventilation grilles, cabinetry changes, drainage changes, extra fittings and modifications are not automatically included unless shown in the selected installation option or chosen as an add-on. Site requirements can vary between kitchens and offices.

Do you install boiling, chilled and sparkling water systems in Brisbane and the Gold Coast?

Installation options are available for selected boiling, chilled and sparkling water systems in eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas. Availability depends on the selected product, your address, existing plumbing, electrical provisions, under bench space, ventilation and site access.
