About the Dux Proflo 315L Electric Hot Water System
The Proflo 315L stores electrically heated water ready for use throughout the home. Dux positions its Proflo large electric range as a straightforward replacement option for existing electric storage systems, with multiple tank capacities and full mains-pressure delivery.
The 315L model sits between the 250L and 400L Proflo units and can suit households needing more stored hot water than a 250L system without moving to the larger 400L model.
Dux currently lists the Proflo 315L for approximately 4–6 people. Actual suitability depends on shower length, household routines, appliance use, electricity tariff, climate and the time available for the system to reheat.
Who Is the Dux Proflo 315L Best For?
Family Homes
The 315L size is designed for households needing substantial stored hot water, with Dux listing approximately 4–6 people depending on usage.
Electric Storage Replacements
Dual-sided water connections can make compatible replacement installations easier when replacing an older electric storage cylinder.
Indoor or Outdoor Installations
Dux lists the Proflo 315L for indoor or outdoor installation where the location satisfies the manufacturer's requirements.

Is a 315L Electric Hot Water System Right for Your Home?
Dux lists the Proflo 315L for approximately 4–6 people, but household size alone is not enough to confirm correct hot-water sizing.
Homes with long showers, multiple bathrooms, high simultaneous demand or appliances using significant amounts of hot water can require more storage or faster recovery. Electricity tariff availability can also affect how much hot water is available throughout the day.
It May Suit You If...
You are replacing a similar-sized electric storage heater or need greater stored capacity than a typical 250L system.
Check Your Tariff
Continuous and off-peak electricity arrangements provide different heating windows and can affect the correct tank size for a household.
Check the Site
The 315L cylinder is tall and heavy, so access, supporting surface, plumbing, drainage and electrical requirements need to suit the selected model.

Can the Dux Proflo 315L Be Installed Indoors or Outdoors?
Yes. Dux lists the Proflo 315L for indoor or outdoor installation.
The cylinder must be installed on a flat, solid supporting surface, and the plumbing must not be used to support the water heater.
For indoor installations, Dux requires a properly drained safe tray where water leakage or discharge could otherwise cause property damage. Local plumbing requirements also apply.
What Is Required to Install the Dux Proflo 315L?
Dux states that the Proflo electric storage water heater must be installed by a licensed tradesperson in accordance with applicable plumbing, electrical and local authority requirements.
- Flat, solid supporting surface
- Compatible hot and cold water pipework
- Correct PTR valve installation and drainage
- Suitable isolation and cold-water valve arrangement
- Pressure-reducing valve where incoming pressure requires it
- Appropriate tempering or delivery-temperature control where required
- 230–240V AC single-phase electrical supply
- Electrical circuit suitable for the selected element configuration
- Fixed-wiring disconnection in accordance with applicable wiring rules
- Safe tray and drainage where required for indoor installation

Dux Proflo 315L Water Pressure Requirements
Dux specifies a 1000 kPa pressure rating for the Pressure & Temperature Relief valve used on the 315L Proflo models.
The current owner's manual states that the 315L water heater is designed for direct connection to water-supply pressures up to 800 kPa.
Where mains pressure can exceed or fluctuate beyond the permitted inlet pressure, Dux requires an appropriate pressure-reducing valve in the cold-water supply.
Full Mains-Pressure Hot Water
Dux specifies full flow pressure to all outlets across the Proflo large electric storage range.
This makes the Proflo 315L particularly relevant when replacing an existing mains-pressure electric storage system and retaining a conventional stored-hot-water arrangement.
Actual pressure and flow at showers and taps will also depend on the property's incoming water pressure, pipe sizing, valves and plumbing layout.
50mm Dense Foam Insulation
Dux specifies 50mm thick dense foam insulation for the 80L–400L Proflo electric storage range.
The insulation is designed to reduce heat loss from the stored water between heating cycles. Actual electricity use still depends on hot-water consumption, electricity tariff, climate, thermostat operation and system configuration.
Is There a Hard-Water Option?
Yes. Dux lists a hard-water option for the Proflo 315L.
Dux publishes different sacrificial anodes for average-to-hard and extremely hard water areas. The correct anode and maintenance interval can be important where local water chemistry is aggressive.
For unusual water conditions, confirm the appropriate unit configuration and servicing requirements before installation.
Should You Choose the 315T1 or 315T2?
315T1 Single Element
The 315T1 uses one 3.6kW element. It may suit a compatible replacement installation where the property's electrical circuit and tariff are configured for a conventional single-element storage water heater.
315T2 Twin Element
The 315T2 uses two elements and provides a 50L boost section. Dux lists 2 × 3.6kW and 2 × 4.8kW configurations. Electrical and tariff suitability must be confirmed before ordering.
Buy the Dux Proflo 315L Supply Only
Choose supply only if you require the Dux Proflo 315L unit and already have suitable licensed trades arranged for installation.
The supply-only price covers the selected water heater itself. Installation, valves, electrical modifications, plumbing changes, compliant base or tray work, old-system removal and disposal are separate unless specifically included in your order.
Before ordering, confirm whether the property requires the 315T1 single-element model or a suitable 315T2 twin-element configuration.

Dux Proflo 315L Maintenance
The water heater contains a Pressure & Temperature Relief valve and sacrificial anode that require ongoing attention during the life of the system.
Dux instructs owners to operate the PTR valve easing lever regularly and states that the valve should be checked by a licensed tradesperson or replaced at intervals not exceeding 5 years, or sooner where local requirements apply.
Dux also recommends a five-year service by a licensed tradesperson. Where total dissolved solids exceed 600 mg/L, Dux recommends this service every 3 years.
The recommended service includes replacing the PTR valve and anode, inspecting the expansion-control valve where fitted, draining and flushing the water heater and inspecting electrical components.
Dux Proflo 315L Warranty
Dux warranty coverage depends on the application in which the water heater is installed.
| Application | Tank Warranty | Parts & Labour |
|---|---|---|
| Single Family Dwelling | 10 years | 1 year |
| All Other Applications | 3 years | 1 year |
The warranty period begins from the installation date where proof is available. Where proof of installation date is unavailable, Dux states that the warranty commences from the manufacturing date shown on the compliance plate.
Do not assume the 10-year tank warranty applies to every rental, commercial, multi-residential or other application. Dux's complete warranty conditions determine coverage.

Tempering Valve and Element Information
*Element size information:
All electric hot water units are supplied as standard with a 3.6kW element unless otherwise stated on the product page, invoice, or order confirmation.
If a different element configuration is requested, such as 1.8kW or 2.4kW, the hot water unit may still arrive with the standard 3.6kW element fitted from the manufacturer. The requested 1.8kW or 2.4kW element will be supplied separately with the order for installation by a suitably licensed electrical contractor or licensed electrical licence holder.
Any element changeover, electrical connection, disconnection, wiring, testing, or modification must be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor or licensed electrical licence holder. Elements must not be changed, connected, modified, or tested by an unlicensed person.
Alternative elements supplied for non-standard configurations may be generic replacement elements and may not be the same brand as the hot water unit unless specifically stated. Generic elements are supplied to suit the requested element size and electrical configuration, but final suitability must be checked by the licensed installer before installation.
1.8kW and 2.4kW elements supplied separately with a hot water unit include a 12-month supply-only parts warranty from the date of purchase, provided the element has been correctly installed by a licensed electrical contractor or licensed electrical licence holder and used under normal operating conditions.
This element warranty covers the replacement supply of the element only. It does not include labour, call-out fees, electrical work, plumbing work, fault finding, removal, reinstallation, testing, travel, downtime, damage caused by incorrect installation, or any other associated costs. Warranty may be declined where the element has been incorrectly installed, dry-fired, modified, damaged, connected to incorrect voltage or wiring, affected by power issues, used in unsuitable water conditions, or installed by an unlicensed person.
Proof of purchase, installer details, electrical licence details, photos, and/or return of the faulty element may be required before a warranty claim is approved.
**Tempering valve information:
Where a hot water system is capable of delivering water above 50°C, a compliant tempering valve must be installed to control the temperature delivered to personal hygiene fixtures such as showers, baths, basins, and bathroom outlets. This helps reduce the risk of scalding and assists with meeting plumbing compliance requirements.
A tempering valve blends hot and cold water to deliver a safer controlled outlet temperature to required fixtures. The hot water unit itself may store water at a higher temperature, but the water delivered to personal hygiene outlets must be controlled where required by plumbing regulations.
If your property already has a suitable, compliant tempering valve installed, your licensed plumber can assess whether it is appropriate for use with the new hot water system. Existing valves may not always be suitable due to age, condition, compliance requirements, valve type, location, or system compatibility.
If a compliant tempering valve is not already installed, or if the existing valve is unsuitable, one must be supplied and installed by a licensed plumber as part of the hot water installation.
Tempering valves are not automatically included with every supply-only hot water unit unless specifically selected, listed as included, or purchased as part of a suitable valve kit. If a tempering valve is required, please purchase the appropriate valve kit with your order or arrange for your licensed installer to supply and install the correct tempering valve on site.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the installation is completed by appropriately licensed trades and that all required valves, fittings, electrical work, plumbing work, and compliance requirements are allowed for as part of the installation.
