Rheem Stellar 125L Stainless Steel Electric Hot Water System

The Rheem Stellar 125L Stainless Steel Electric Hot Water System is a premium compact electric storage water heater designed for smaller homes, units, townhouses, granny flats and replacement applications where stainless steel construction, lighter handling and reduced anode maintenance are important.

Installed Today offers the Rheem Stellar 125L as a supply-only electric hot water system, with supply and installation options available across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas.

Rheem Stellar 125L at a glance: this is a 125L stainless steel electric storage hot water system designed for smaller households and compact replacement locations. It is commonly suited to around 3 to 4 people depending on actual use, features a no-anode stainless steel design and can be installed indoors or outdoors where suitable.
WHAT IT DOES

What Does the Rheem Stellar 125L Do?

The Rheem Stellar 125L stores and electrically heats domestic hot water for showers, basins, kitchens and other household hot water requirements.

Unlike many conventional vitreous enamel electric storage systems, the Stellar uses a stainless steel cylinder and stainless steel water fittings. This removes the need for a sacrificial anode and can reduce anode-related maintenance where local water quality is suitable.

WHO IT SUITS

Who Is the Rheem Stellar 125L Best For?

Smaller Households

The Rheem Stellar 125L is commonly suited to around 3 to 4 people, depending on shower length, fixture flow rates, tariff setup and household hot water habits.

Units, Townhouses & Granny Flats

The compact 125L capacity and approximately 495 mm diameter can suit residential applications where installation space is limited.

Customers Wanting Stainless Steel

The Stellar 125L suits customers wanting stainless steel cylinder construction, no sacrificial anode and a premium alternative to conventional enamel-lined electric storage.

WHO IT HELPS

What Problems Can the Rheem Stellar 125L Help Solve?

Compact Hot Water Replacement

The 125L storage size can suit homes that need a proper household electric storage system without the footprint of a larger 160L, 250L or 315L tank.

Anode Maintenance

The stainless steel cylinder does not use a sacrificial anode, removing the anode replacement requirement associated with many vitreous enamel storage systems.

Restricted Access

The approximately 31 kg packaged weight and 495 mm diameter can help with handling in selected units, townhouses, side paths and compact replacement locations.

PRODUCT SUITABILITY

Is the Rheem Stellar 125L Right for My Home?

A Good Choice If...

You want a compact 125L electric storage system, have a smaller household, want stainless steel construction, prefer a no-anode design and have suitable water quality.

Consider Another Option If...

Your household regularly has higher hot water demand, your water quality is unsuitable for stainless steel, or a larger 160L or 250L system better suits your usage.

Check Before Ordering

Confirm local water quality, installation space, access, base condition, valve requirements, electrical supply and whether the selected 1.8 kW or 3.6 kW element suits the existing electrical setup.

SIZE & APPLICATION

What Size Home Does the Rheem Stellar 125L Suit?

How Many People Does the Rheem Stellar 125L Suit?

The supplied product information positions the Rheem Stellar 125L for around 3 to 4 people. Actual suitability depends on shower duration, fixture flow rates, tariff setup, climate and household hot water habits.

When Is 125L a Useful Size?

A 125L electric storage system can suit smaller homes, units, townhouses and granny flats where a larger family-size cylinder is not required.

When Should I Consider the 160L Model?

The larger Rheem Stellar 160L may be worth considering where the household has stronger daily hot water demand or regularly depletes the capacity of a smaller system.

HOW IT WORKS

How Does the Rheem Stellar 125L Work?

1. Cold Water Enters

Cold water enters the stainless steel storage cylinder through the plumbing connections.

2. Electric Element Heats

An electric heating element raises the stored water temperature. Available element ratings include 1.8 kW and 3.6 kW.

STAINLESS STEEL DESIGN

Why Choose a Stainless Steel Hot Water Cylinder?

The Rheem Stellar 125L uses a stainless steel cylinder and stainless steel water fittings. This construction is designed to resist corrosion where the water chemistry is suitable.

One of the major differences from many traditional electric storage systems is that the Stellar does not require a sacrificial anode. This can reduce ongoing anode-related maintenance and servicing.

Stainless steel is not suitable for every water supply, so local water quality should be checked before choosing this model.

NO-ANODE DESIGN

Does the Rheem Stellar 125L Need an Anode?

No. The Rheem Stellar 125L stainless steel water heater does not use a sacrificial anode.

This differs from many vitreous enamel electric storage water heaters, which rely on sacrificial anodes to help protect the cylinder. Removing this requirement can reduce anode-related maintenance where the product is suitable for the property's water quality.

WATER QUALITY

Is the Rheem Stellar 125L Suitable for All Water Areas?

No. Water quality suitability is an important consideration with stainless steel hot water systems.

Some water chemistry conditions may make a different cylinder construction more appropriate. Water quality should therefore be checked before purchase or installation, particularly in locations with known water-quality concerns.

PERFORMANCE

How Efficient Is the Rheem Stellar 125L?

Rheem lists the Stellar 125L as providing 17% better performance than MEPS under its stated comparison.

Actual electricity consumption and running costs still depend on household hot water use, thermostat operation, selected element rating, tariff, climate and how the system is used.

Rheem also states that the Stellar can be up to 42% lighter than comparable systems under its stated comparison, which can help with transport and installation access.

COMPACT DESIGN

How Compact Is the Rheem Stellar 125L?

The Rheem Stellar 125L is approximately 1295 mm high and 495 mm in diameter.

This compact footprint can make it useful for selected units, townhouses, granny flats and replacement locations where available space is limited, although installation access, base condition and service requirements still need to be checked.

DUAL-HANDED CONNECTIONS

How Do the Rheem Stellar 125L Connections Help With Replacement?

The Rheem Stellar 125L includes dual-handed cold water connections, while the hot water connection is located at the top of the water heater.

This can provide additional flexibility when matching an existing plumbing layout and may reduce unnecessary pipework changes in suitable replacement installations.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Is Required to Install the Rheem Stellar 125L?

Installation requirements depend on whether the system is replacing an existing electric storage unit or being installed in a new or relocated position.

  • Suitable compliant installation position
  • Suitable level and structurally adequate base
  • Access for a unit approximately 1295 mm high and 495 mm diameter
  • Compatible hot and cold water connections
  • Correct valve arrangement
  • Suitable incoming water pressure
  • Suitable water quality for stainless steel
  • Compliant pressure-relief discharge
  • Suitable electrical supply for the selected element rating
  • Suitable indoor or outdoor installation position
  • Adequate service access
  • Any required base, tray, drainage or insulation provisions
WATER PRESSURE

Rheem Stellar 125L Water Pressure Requirements

The supplied specifications list a 1400 kPa relief valve pressure and a 1200 kPa expansion control valve setting.

The listed maximum water supply pressure is 960 kPa when an ECV is fitted and 1120 kPa without an ECV.

Incoming water pressure and the existing valve arrangement should be checked as part of installation planning. Replacement or additional valves may be required depending on the site.

REPLACEMENT & UPGRADES

Can the Rheem Stellar 125L Replace My Existing Hot Water System?

The Rheem Stellar 125L may be suitable for replacing selected smaller electric storage water heaters where the existing location, plumbing, electrical supply, access and water quality are compatible.

Its compact design and dual-handed cold water connections can provide useful flexibility during replacement work, although the installation should not automatically be assumed to be like-for-like.

Moving Up to 160L

If the household regularly runs short of hot water with a 125L system, the larger Stellar 160L may provide a more suitable capacity depending on available space and electrical requirements.

Relocating the System

Moving the new water heater away from the existing position may require additional pipework, drainage, electrical work, base preparation and labour.

Tempering Valve and Element Information

*Element size information:
All electric hot water units are supplied as standard with a 3.6kW element unless otherwise stated on the product page, invoice, or order confirmation.

If a different element configuration is requested, such as 1.8kW or 2.4kW, the hot water unit may still arrive with the standard 3.6kW element fitted from the manufacturer. The requested 1.8kW or 2.4kW element will be supplied separately with the order for installation by a suitably licensed electrical contractor or licensed electrical licence holder.

Any element changeover, electrical connection, disconnection, wiring, testing, or modification must be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor or licensed electrical licence holder. Elements must not be changed, connected, modified, or tested by an unlicensed person.

Alternative elements supplied for non-standard configurations may be generic replacement elements and may not be the same brand as the hot water unit unless specifically stated. Generic elements are supplied to suit the requested element size and electrical configuration, but final suitability must be checked by the licensed installer before installation.

1.8kW and 2.4kW elements supplied separately with a hot water unit include a 12-month supply-only parts warranty from the date of purchase, provided the element has been correctly installed by a licensed electrical contractor or licensed electrical licence holder and used under normal operating conditions.

This element warranty covers the replacement supply of the element only. It does not include labour, call-out fees, electrical work, plumbing work, fault finding, removal, reinstallation, testing, travel, downtime, damage caused by incorrect installation, or any other associated costs. Warranty may be declined where the element has been incorrectly installed, dry-fired, modified, damaged, connected to incorrect voltage or wiring, affected by power issues, used in unsuitable water conditions, or installed by an unlicensed person.

Proof of purchase, installer details, electrical licence details, photos, and/or return of the faulty element may be required before a warranty claim is approved.

**Tempering valve information:
Where a hot water system is capable of delivering water above 50°C, a compliant tempering valve must be installed to control the temperature delivered to personal hygiene fixtures such as showers, baths, basins, and bathroom outlets. This helps reduce the risk of scalding and assists with meeting plumbing compliance requirements.

A tempering valve blends hot and cold water to deliver a safer controlled outlet temperature to required fixtures. The hot water unit itself may store water at a higher temperature, but the water delivered to personal hygiene outlets must be controlled where required by plumbing regulations.

If your property already has a suitable, compliant tempering valve installed, your licensed plumber can assess whether it is appropriate for use with the new hot water system. Existing valves may not always be suitable due to age, condition, compliance requirements, valve type, location, or system compatibility.

If a compliant tempering valve is not already installed, or if the existing valve is unsuitable, one must be supplied and installed by a licensed plumber as part of the hot water installation.

Tempering valves are not automatically included with every supply-only hot water unit unless specifically selected, listed as included, or purchased as part of a suitable valve kit. If a tempering valve is required, please purchase the appropriate valve kit with your order or arrange for your licensed installer to supply and install the correct tempering valve on site.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the installation is completed by appropriately licensed trades and that all required valves, fittings, electrical work, plumbing work, and compliance requirements are allowed for as part of the installation.
