RINNAI LPG CONTINUOUS FLOW HOT WATER

Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Continuous Flow Hot Water System

The Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Continuous Flow Hot Water System is a compact external instantaneous gas water heater designed for one-bathroom homes, smaller households, granny flats, townhouses, rentals and replacement applications using bottled LPG.

Installed Today offers the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG as a supply-only LPG hot water unit, with supply and installation options available across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas, where available.

Key features include 16 L/min flow at a 25°C rise, 20 L/min flow at a 20°C rise, a 6.1 Star Equivalent Energy Rating, Puretemp™ temperature stability technology, compact outdoor wall-mounted design and a Rinnai-listed 25-year extended heat exchanger warranty pathway subject to scheduled servicing and warranty conditions.

Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG at a glance: this is an external LPG continuous flow hot water system designed primarily for one-bathroom homes and moderate hot water demand. It heats water on demand, has no storage tank, weighs approximately 13 kg and is listed with a minimum operating flow of 1.5 L/min.
WHAT IT DOES

What Does the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Do?

The Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG heats water only when a hot tap is opened. Water passes through the appliance and is heated by LPG rather than being stored in a hot water cylinder.

This makes it a compact option for smaller homes wanting on-demand hot water without the floor space required for a storage tank.

WHO IT SUITS

Who Is the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Best For?

One-Bathroom Homes

The supplied information positions the B16 as ideal for one bathroom and moderate household hot water demand.

Homes Using Bottled LPG

This product is the LPG version and suits properties with an appropriate bottled LPG supply, regulator setup and gas pipe sizing.

Compact Replacement Jobs

The small wall-mounted design can suit granny flats, townhouses, rental properties and homes replacing an older external LPG instantaneous system.

WHO IT HELPS

What Problems Can the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Help Solve?

No Room for a Storage Tank

The B16 mounts externally on a wall and avoids the footprint required by a traditional storage hot water cylinder.

Older LPG Instantaneous Replacement

The B16 can provide a practical replacement pathway for selected older LPG continuous flow water heaters where the existing site is compatible.

Moderate Hot Water Demand

The B16 is designed for smaller households where a larger 20L or 26L continuous flow system may not be required.

PRODUCT SUITABILITY

Is the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Right for My Home?

A Good Choice If...

You have one bathroom, moderate hot water demand, bottled LPG, suitable outdoor wall space and want a compact continuous flow system.

Consider Another Option If...

Your property uses natural gas, you need an internal water heater, or your household regularly has higher simultaneous hot water demand that may be better suited to a B20 or B26-class unit.

Check Before Ordering

Confirm LPG bottle location, regulator suitability, gas pipe sizing, water pressure, electrical supply, mounting position, outdoor clearances, plumbing connections and expected hot water demand.

LPG MODEL

This Product Is for LPG

This page is specifically for the LPG version of the Rinnai Infinity B16.

LPG and natural gas appliances are different product pathways and are not interchangeable. If the property is connected to mains natural gas, select the correct natural gas version instead.

For LPG installations, the bottle setup, regulator, isolation valve and gas pipe sizing must be suitable for the appliance.

HOW IT WORKS

How Does the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Work?

1. Hot Tap Opens

Water begins flowing through the appliance when a connected hot water outlet is opened.

2. LPG Burner Heats

The burner heats water as it passes through the heat exchanger rather than maintaining a cylinder of stored hot water.

3. Hot Water Continues

The unit continues producing hot water while LPG, water and electrical power are available and demand remains within the appliance's operating capacity.

CONTINUOUS FLOW PERFORMANCE

What Does the Rinnai Infinity B16 Flow Rate Mean?

The B16 is listed at 16 L/min at a 25°C temperature rise and 20 L/min at a 20°C temperature rise.

Continuous flow output depends on the temperature increase required between incoming cold water and the selected hot water temperature. Warmer incoming water generally requires a smaller temperature rise than colder incoming water.

Actual performance also depends on LPG supply, water pressure, shower flow rate, selected temperature and simultaneous hot water use.

ONE-BATHROOM APPLICATION

Is the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Suitable for One Bathroom?

Yes. The supplied information positions the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG as ideal for one bathroom and moderate hot water demand.

The warm- and cool-climate shower outlet guide supplied for this model lists one shower outlet.

For two bathrooms, higher-flow shower fixtures or stronger simultaneous demand, a larger continuous flow model such as a B20 or B26 may be more appropriate.

NO STORAGE TANK

Does the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Store Hot Water?

No. The B16 is an instantaneous continuous flow water heater and does not store hot water in a cylinder.

Water is heated on demand as it passes through the unit, saving space and removing the need to maintain a full tank of heated water throughout the day.

Although there is no storage tank to run empty, the appliance still needs to be correctly sized for the home's required flow rate and simultaneous outlet demand.

ENERGY PERFORMANCE

How Efficient Is the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG?

The supplied product information lists a 6.1 Star Equivalent Energy Rating.

Because the B16 heats water only when required, it avoids the ongoing standby heat loss associated with keeping water hot inside a storage tank.

Actual running costs still depend on household use, LPG pricing, incoming water temperature, selected outlet temperature, fixture flow rates and installation conditions.

PURETEMP™

What Is Puretemp™ Temperature Stability Technology?

The Rinnai Infinity B16 includes Puretemp™ temperature stability technology.

It is designed to help maintain steadier hot water temperatures when normal changes in water flow occur.

Correct gas supply, water pressure, pipework, outlet flow rates and installation remain important to final hot water performance.

COMPACT DESIGN

How Compact Is the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG?

The B16 is approximately 531 mm high, 351 mm wide and 202 mm deep including brackets. Height including brackets is listed at 571 mm.

The unit weighs approximately 13 kg, making it substantially smaller and lighter than a storage hot water cylinder.

This can suit smaller homes, townhouses, granny flats and selected replacement positions where outdoor wall space is available.

OUTDOOR INSTALLATION

Can the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Be Installed Indoors?

No. The supplied product information identifies the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG as an external installation model.

It should not be installed internally. The installation location must comply with manufacturer instructions, gas fitting requirements, ventilation requirements, flue-terminal clearances and applicable local standards.

WATER PRESSURE

Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Water Pressure Requirements

The supplied specifications list a minimum water pressure of 120 kPa and a maximum water pressure of 1000 kPa.

The minimum operating water flow is listed at 1.5 L/min.

Site water pressure should be checked before installation. Pressure control may be required where incoming water pressure is too high.

LPG SUPPLY

Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Gas Supply Requirements

The supplied product information lists an LPG gas rate range of 16 MJ/hr to 124 MJ/hr.

The LPG bottle arrangement, regulator, gas pipe sizing and isolation valve setup must be capable of supplying the appliance correctly.

A licensed gas fitter should assess the existing LPG installation, especially when replacing a different appliance or moving the hot water system to a new position.

ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENT

Does the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Need Electricity?

Yes. The unit requires electrical power for ignition, controls and operation.

The supplied specifications list electrical consumption at 68 W.

A suitable outdoor electrical supply may be required depending on the selected installation position and existing site conditions.

OPTIONAL CONTROLLERS

Can Rinnai Hot Water Controllers Be Added?

Yes. Optional compatible Rinnai hot water controllers may be used where suitable.

Controllers can provide additional convenience and temperature control, but they are not included unless selected separately. Controller compatibility, wiring and placement should be confirmed before installation.

ACCESSORIES

Accessories for the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG

Pipe Covers

Selected pipe covers may be available to provide a cleaner appearance around exposed plumbing and gas services.

Recess Boxes

Selected recess boxes may be suitable where the installation design requires the appliance to sit partly recessed into an external wall.

Security Brackets

Selected security brackets may be available where additional protection against unauthorised removal is wanted.

Accessories are not included unless selected separately. Compatibility should be confirmed before ordering.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Is Required to Install the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG?

  • Confirmed LPG gas type
  • Suitable LPG bottle location and capacity
  • Compatible regulator setup
  • Gas pipe sizing suitable for the appliance
  • External wall mounting location
  • Required outdoor and flue-terminal clearances
  • Minimum 120 kPa water pressure
  • Water pressure control where required

REPLACEMENT & UPGRADES

Can the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Replace My Existing Hot Water System?

The Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG may be a practical replacement for selected existing external LPG continuous flow hot water systems where gas supply, regulator setup, pipe sizing, water pressure, electrical connection, wall position and clearances are compatible.

A replacement should not automatically be assumed to be like-for-like. Existing LPG equipment, valves, gas pipework and compliance requirements should be checked before installation.

Replacing a Smaller LPG Instantaneous Unit

The B16 may suit one-bathroom homes upgrading an older LPG instantaneous water heater where the household's demand remains moderate.

When to Consider a Larger Model

If the home has two bathrooms, higher shower flow rates or regular simultaneous hot water use, a larger B20 or B26 continuous flow model may be more suitable.

Relocating the Unit

Moving the hot water system to a different position may require additional gas pipework, plumbing, electrical work, mounting changes and compliance work.

COMPARE YOUR OPTIONS

Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG vs B20 LPG

Feature Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Rinnai Infinity B20 LPG
Relative Flow Capacity Lower Higher
B16 Flow at 25°C Rise 16 L/min —
Typical Application One bathroom and moderate demand Higher hot water demand
Main Reason to Consider Compact lower-demand LPG continuous flow Additional flow capacity for stronger household demand

The B20 provides greater flow capacity than the B16 and may better suit households with stronger simultaneous hot water use. Final sizing should consider shower flow rates, incoming water temperature, LPG supply and actual household demand.

FINAL CHECK

Is the Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Right for You?

The Rinnai Infinity B16 LPG Continuous Flow Hot Water System is primarily suited to one-bathroom homes, smaller households and properties using bottled LPG that want a compact external continuous flow hot water system.

Before ordering, confirm that the property uses LPG rather than natural gas, that the intended position is outdoors, and that the LPG bottle setup, regulator, gas pipe sizing, water pressure, electrical supply, plumbing, clearances and household demand are suitable. Choose supply only if licensed trades are already arranged, or select an eligible Brisbane or Gold Coast supply and installation option where available.

Tempering valve information:
Where a hot water system is capable of delivering water above 50°C, a compliant tempering valve must be installed to control the temperature delivered to personal hygiene fixtures such as showers, baths, basins, and bathroom outlets. This helps reduce the risk of scalding and assists with meeting plumbing compliance requirements.

A tempering valve blends hot and cold water to deliver a safer controlled outlet temperature to required fixtures. The hot water unit itself may store water at a higher temperature, but the water delivered to personal hygiene outlets must be controlled where required by plumbing regulations.

If your property already has a suitable, compliant tempering valve installed, your licensed plumber can assess whether it is appropriate for use with the new hot water system. Existing valves may not always be suitable due to age, condition, compliance requirements, valve type, location, or system compatibility.

If a compliant tempering valve is not already installed, or if the existing valve is unsuitable, one must be supplied and installed by a licensed plumber as part of the hot water installation.

Tempering valves are not automatically included with every supply-only hot water unit unless specifically selected, listed as included, or purchased as part of a suitable valve kit. If a tempering valve is required, please purchase the appropriate valve kit with your order or arrange for your licensed installer to supply and install the correct tempering valve on site.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the installation is completed by appropriately licensed trades and that all required valves, fittings, electrical work, plumbing work, and compliance requirements are allowed for as part of the installation.
