VULCAN LPG GAS STORAGE HOT WATER

Vulcan 135L LPG Gas Storage Hot Water System

The Vulcan 135L LPG Gas Storage Hot Water System is an outdoor 4 Star gas storage water heater designed for small to medium households using LPG / propane and wanting a practical stored hot water replacement.

Installed Today offers the Vulcan 135L LPG as a supply-only LPG gas storage hot water unit, with supply and installation options available across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas, where available.

Key features include 135L storage capacity, a 4 Star gas energy rating, vitreous enamel lined cylinder, quick gas recovery, outdoor-only installation and a Vulcan-listed 7-year cylinder warranty plus 12-month parts and labour warranty, subject to current warranty terms.

Vulcan 135L LPG at a glance: this is the LPG / propane version of the Vulcan 135L gas storage water heater, product code 648135PG. It stores 135 litres of hot water, is listed for outdoor installation only and is positioned for small to medium households, with Vulcan listing up to 5 people under stated usage conditions.
WHAT IT DOES

What Does the Vulcan 135L LPG Do?

The Vulcan 135L LPG stores hot water inside a vitreous enamel lined cylinder and uses LPG gas to reheat the stored water as it is used.

Unlike an LPG continuous flow system, this model keeps a volume of hot water ready for use. It can therefore suit properties replacing an older external LPG gas storage water heater and wanting to retain a traditional storage-style hot water setup.

WHO IT SUITS

Who Is the Vulcan 135L LPG Best For?

Small to Medium Households

Vulcan lists the 135L gas storage model for up to 5 people under stated usage conditions. Actual suitability depends on showers, climate, outlet flow rates and household routines.

Homes Using LPG

This model is designed for LPG / propane applications and may suit properties using bottled LPG or an existing compatible LPG gas supply.

Gas Storage Replacement

The unit can suit selected replacements of older outdoor LPG gas storage systems where the gas supply, plumbing, base, access and clearances are suitable.

WHO IT HELPS

What Problems Can the Vulcan 135L LPG Help Solve?

Replacing an Older LPG Storage Unit

The 135L LPG model can provide a practical replacement pathway where the existing outdoor installation and LPG supply remain suitable.

Need for Stored Hot Water

The system maintains 135L of stored hot water ready for household use rather than heating water only as it passes through the appliance.

Need for Gas Recovery

Its gas storage design reheats the cylinder after hot water is drawn, helping restore stored hot water for ongoing household use.

Is the Vulcan 135L LPG Right for My Home?

A Good Choice If...

Your property uses LPG, you want an outdoor 135L gas storage system and your household has small to medium hot water demand.

Consider Another Option If...

Your property uses natural gas, the system must be installed indoors, or your household regularly requires more hot water capacity than a 135L storage unit can provide.

Check Before Ordering

Confirm LPG gas type, bottle and regulator setup, gas pipe sizing, water pressure, existing valves, base condition, outdoor clearances, plumbing and access.

LPG MODEL

This Product Is for LPG / Propane

This page is for the LPG / propane version of the Vulcan 135L gas storage water heater.

LPG and natural gas appliances are not interchangeable. The correct gas type must be selected before purchase and installation.

The LPG model may suit homes using bottled LPG, properties without mains natural gas and homes replacing an existing external LPG storage water heater.

HOW IT WORKS

How Does the Vulcan 135L LPG Work?

1. Hot Water Is Stored

The system stores 135L of heated water inside its vitreous enamel lined cylinder ready for household use.

2. Hot Water Is Drawn

When a hot tap is opened, stored hot water leaves the tank and cold water enters to replace it.

135L STORAGE CAPACITY

How Much Hot Water Does the Vulcan 135L LPG Store?

The Vulcan 135L LPG stores 135 litres of hot water in its cylinder.

This gives the household a stored volume ready for use while the gas burner reheats incoming water after hot water is drawn.

Vulcan lists the model for up to 5 people under stated usage conditions, but actual suitability depends on shower duration, climate, hot water temperature, outlet flow rates, bath use and household routines.

GAS ENERGY RATING

How Efficient Is the Vulcan 135L LPG?

The Vulcan 135L LPG has a listed 4 Star gas energy rating.

Gas storage water heaters are commonly chosen when a property already has gas storage installed and the customer wants a straightforward replacement pathway.

Actual running costs depend on LPG pricing, household hot water use, thermostat operation, recovery demand, climate and installation condition.

VITREOUS ENAMEL CYLINDER

How Is the Vulcan 135L Cylinder Protected?

The Vulcan 135L LPG uses a vitreous enamel lined cylinder.

The lining is designed to help protect the inside of the storage tank during normal hot water service.

Water quality, water pressure, valve condition, correct installation and ongoing maintenance all influence the long-term service life of a storage water heater.

OUTDOOR INSTALLATION

Can the Vulcan 135L LPG Be Installed Indoors?

No. The Vulcan 135L LPG gas storage water heater is listed for outdoor installation only.

The installation must meet applicable outdoor clearance, ventilation, flue terminal, base, access, gas, plumbing and compliance requirements.

LPG SUPPLY

Vulcan 135L LPG Gas Supply Requirements

The supplied specifications list LPG / propane gas consumption at 26 MJ/hour.

The listed gas pressure figures are 2.75 kPa minimum LPG gas pressure, 2.70 kPa test point gas pressure and 3.50 kPa maximum LPG gas pressure.

A licensed gas fitter should confirm LPG bottle arrangement, regulator suitability, gas pipe sizing, appliance location and compliance requirements before installation.

WATER PRESSURE

Vulcan 135L LPG Water Pressure Requirements

The supplied specifications list a 1400 kPa relief valve setting and a 1200 kPa ECV setting.

Maximum supply pressure is listed at 960 kPa with an expansion control valve and 1120 kPa without an expansion control valve.

Incoming water pressure and the existing valve arrangement should be checked before installation. Pressure control or replacement valves may be required depending on the property.

CONNECTION POSITION

Vulcan 135L LPG Water and Gas Connections

The Vulcan 135L gas storage model uses Rp 3/4 left-hand water connections and an Rp 1/2 gas connection.

Connection position is important during replacement work because existing pipework can affect installation time, parts required and whether plumbing alterations are necessary.

TRIM KIT

Is a Trim Kit Available for the Vulcan 135L?

Yes. Vulcan lists trim kit FK1356 for the 135L gas storage model.

A trim kit may be useful for selected installations depending on the existing setup and desired finish. It is not included unless selected separately.

SIZE & ACCESS

How Big Is the Vulcan 135L LPG?

The supplied dimensions are approximately 1568 mm high × 422 mm wide × 502 mm deep.

The approximate packaged weight is 69 kg.

Installation planning should account for delivery access, lifting requirements, base support, plumbing and gas connections, service clearances and room to remove the existing system where applicable.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Is Required to Install the Vulcan 135L LPG?

  • Confirmed LPG / propane gas type
  • Suitable LPG bottle or storage arrangement
  • Compatible LPG regulator setup
  • Gas pipe sizing suitable for appliance demand
  • Outdoor installation position
  • Required gas appliance clearances
  • Suitable level and structurally adequate base
  • Compatible left-hand water connections
  • Correct valve arrangement
  • Suitable incoming water pressure
  • Compliant pressure-relief discharge
  • Adequate access for delivery and servicing
  • Any required plumbing or gas compliance upgrades
  • Installation by appropriately licensed trades
REPLACEMENT & UPGRADES

Can the Vulcan 135L LPG Replace My Existing Hot Water System?

The Vulcan 135L LPG may be suitable for selected like-for-like replacements of older external LPG gas storage water heaters where the location, gas supply, regulator setup, water pressure, base, connections and compliance requirements are suitable.

A replacement should not automatically be assumed to be identical. Existing valves, gas pipe sizing, plumbing layout, base condition and clearances should be checked before installation.

Replacing an Existing LPG Storage Unit

This model may suit customers who already have an outdoor LPG gas storage system and want to stay with the same general hot water technology.

Replacing a Natural Gas Unit

This LPG model is not the correct choice simply because the existing system is gas. The actual gas type must be confirmed before ordering.

Relocating the System

Moving the system from its current position can require additional gas pipework, plumbing, base preparation, clearance assessment and compliance work.

COMPARE GAS TYPES

Vulcan 135L LPG vs Natural Gas Model

Vulcan 135L LPG

Designed for properties using LPG / propane, including bottled LPG installations with a suitable regulator and gas supply.

Vulcan 135L Natural Gas

Designed for properties connected to mains natural gas. It must be ordered as the correct gas-specific model.

LPG and natural gas models are not interchangeable. Always match the water heater to the property's actual gas supply.

COMPARE SYSTEM TYPES

Vulcan 135L LPG Storage vs LPG Continuous Flow

135L LPG Storage

Stores 135L of hot water ready for use and reheats the cylinder with LPG after hot water is drawn.

LPG Continuous Flow

Does not use a storage cylinder and instead heats water as it passes through the appliance. Correct flow-rate sizing and gas supply remain important.

Storage can suit customers wanting a familiar replacement for an existing gas storage system, while continuous flow can suit customers wanting compact on-demand heating. The right option depends on household usage, LPG setup, available space and installation requirements.

COMPARE ENERGY SOURCES

Vulcan 135L LPG vs Electric Storage

LPG Gas Storage

Uses LPG gas to heat the stored water and may suit properties already set up for bottled LPG or an existing LPG storage water heater.

Electric Storage

Uses an electric element and may suit properties without gas supply or where an electric replacement better matches the existing installation.

Installation cost, energy source, existing infrastructure, running costs, household demand and compliance requirements should all be considered when changing system type.

FINAL CHECK

Is the Vulcan 135L LPG Right for You?

The Vulcan 135L LPG Gas Storage Hot Water System is primarily suited to small to medium households using LPG / propane that want a practical outdoor storage water heater with 135L stored capacity, gas recovery, a 4 Star rating and vitreous enamel cylinder construction.

Before ordering, confirm that the property uses LPG rather than natural gas, the intended installation position is outdoors and the LPG regulator, bottle setup, gas pipe sizing, water pressure, valves, base, connections, clearances and access are suitable. Choose supply only if appropriately licensed trades are already arranged, or select an eligible Brisbane or Gold Coast supply and installation option where available.

Tempering valve information:
Where a hot water system is capable of delivering water above 50°C, a compliant tempering valve must be installed to control the temperature delivered to personal hygiene fixtures such as showers, baths, basins, and bathroom outlets. This helps reduce the risk of scalding and assists with meeting plumbing compliance requirements.

A tempering valve blends hot and cold water to deliver a safer controlled outlet temperature to required fixtures. The hot water unit itself may store water at a higher temperature, but the water delivered to personal hygiene outlets must be controlled where required by plumbing regulations.

If your property already has a suitable, compliant tempering valve installed, your licensed plumber can assess whether it is appropriate for use with the new hot water system. Existing valves may not always be suitable due to age, condition, compliance requirements, valve type, location, or system compatibility.

If a compliant tempering valve is not already installed, or if the existing valve is unsuitable, one must be supplied and installed by a licensed plumber as part of the hot water installation.

Tempering valves are not automatically included with every supply-only hot water unit unless specifically selected, listed as included, or purchased as part of a suitable valve kit. If a tempering valve is required, please purchase the appropriate valve kit with your order or arrange for your licensed installer to supply and install the correct tempering valve on site.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the installation is completed by appropriately licensed trades and that all required valves, fittings, electrical work, plumbing work, and compliance requirements are allowed for as part of the installation.
