VULCAN ELECTRIC HOT WATER

Vulcan Duomax 50L Electric Storage Hot Water System

The Vulcan Duomax 50L Electric Storage Hot Water System is a compact electric water heater designed for apartments, kitchens, offices and other locations where hot water demand is limited and a larger household storage system is not required.

With 50 litres of hot water delivery, a 3.6 kW single element, dual-handed connections and a vitreous enamel lined cylinder, it is designed to provide mains-pressure stored hot water in a relatively compact footprint.

Installed Today offers the Vulcan Duomax 50L as a supply-only hot water system or with supplied-and-installed options across selected Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas, where available.

Vulcan Duomax 50L at a glance: this is a compact 50L electric storage water heater intended for small spaces and limited hot water demand. Vulcan lists the 691050G7 with a 3.6 kW single element, dual-handed connections, a continuous-tariff requirement and a manufacturer sizing guide of up to 1 person under its stated usage conditions.
WHAT IT DOES

What Does the Vulcan Duomax 50L Do?

The Vulcan Duomax 50L stores and heats water inside a compact vitreous enamel lined steel cylinder. Its electric element heats the stored water so it is ready for use at connected hot water outlets.

Unlike a larger whole-home storage cylinder, the 50L model is specifically aimed at locations with relatively limited hot water demand.

Vulcan identifies apartments, kitchens and offices as examples of applications where this smaller-capacity electric storage water heater can be suitable.

WHO IT SUITS

Who Is the Vulcan Duomax 50L Best For?

Single-Person Low-Demand Use

Vulcan lists the 50L model for a maximum of one person under its stated usage conditions, making household hot water demand an important consideration before ordering.

```
Apartments & Compact Spaces
Its compact dimensions can suit apartments and other installations where a larger electric storage cylinder would take up unnecessary space.
Kitchens & Offices
Vulcan specifically identifies kitchens and offices as applications where the 50L unit can suit limited hot water demand.
```
WHO IT HELPS

What Problems Can the Vulcan Duomax 50L Help Solve?

Replacing a Small Electric Unit

The 50L model can provide a practical replacement option where an existing compact electric storage water heater occupies a suitable location.

```
Limited Installation Space
At approximately 695 mm high and 400 mm wide, the 50L model is considerably more compact than larger household storage cylinders.
Low Hot Water Demand
It provides stored electric hot water without installing a larger-capacity system where the actual demand does not justify the additional tank size.
Vulcan's model-specific specification lists the 50L unit for a maximum of 1 person based on the manufacturer's stated usage conditions and connection to a continuous tariff. Actual hot water demand still varies by shower duration, outlet flow, climate and usage patterns.
PRODUCT SUITABILITY
Is the Vulcan Duomax 50L Right for My Home or Property?
A Good Choice If...
You need a compact electric storage water heater for limited hot water demand, are replacing a similar small unit or need hot water for an apartment, kitchen or office application.
```

Consider Another Option If...

You have multiple occupants, long or frequent showers, several bathrooms or consistently high hot water demand that is likely to exceed a 50L storage capacity.

Check Before Ordering

Confirm actual hot water demand, dimensions, access, continuous electrical supply, valves, water pressure, drainage, pipework and the installation position.

```
SIZE & APPLICATION
What Applications Does the Vulcan Duomax 50L Suit?
Vulcan describes the 50L electric water heater as providing hot water for small spaces and identifies apartments, kitchens and offices as typical examples where hot water demand is limited.
The manufacturer lists a maximum of 1 person under its specified sizing conditions. It should not be treated as a general family-sized hot water system simply because it can supply more than one outlet.
  • Single-person low-demand applications
  • Apartments with suitable hot water demand
  • Kitchens and kitchenettes
  • Office amenities
  • Compact electric storage replacements
  • Locations where a larger tank is unnecessary
  • Indoor positions where installation requirements are met
  • Outdoor positions where installation requirements are met
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
What Is Required to Install the Vulcan Duomax 50L?
The small physical size of the Vulcan 50L can make it easier to position than a larger electric storage system, but the plumbing, electrical supply, drainage, water pressure and service access still need to be checked before installation.
  • Suitable stable installation position
  • Space for the 50L cylinder
  • Safe delivery and positioning access
  • Suitable hot and cold water pipework
  • Correct valve arrangement
  • Suitable incoming water pressure
  • Relief and expansion drainage
  • Continuous electrical supply
  • Electrical circuit suitable for the 3.6 kW element
  • Suitable electrical isolation
  • Service and maintenance access
  • Safe tray and drainage where required indoors
  • Suitable base and location conditions outdoors
  • Suitable cupboard access where installed in an enclosed position
ACCESS & DIMENSIONS
Will the Vulcan Duomax 50L Fit in the Existing Location?
Vulcan lists the 50L model at approximately 695 mm high, 400 mm wide and 436 mm deep.
Its compact size makes it relevant to smaller installation areas, but adequate plumbing access, drainage, electrical access and space for future servicing still need to be maintained.
Check the entire installation area before ordering. Cupboards, shelving, benchtops, restricted door openings, pipe locations and limited service clearance can affect installation even when the nominal tank dimensions appear to fit.
ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
What Electrical Supply Does the Vulcan Duomax 50L Need?
The 691050G7 uses a 3.6 kW single electric element and Vulcan specifies that the 50L model requires connection to a continuous tariff.
The existing electrical circuit, wiring, isolation and tariff arrangement should be checked before installation, especially where the new unit is replacing an older water heater with a different electrical setup.
Any required electrical alterations need to be completed by an appropriately licensed electrical contractor.
CONTINUOUS TARIFF
Why Does the Vulcan Duomax 50L Require Continuous Power?
Vulcan specifies a continuous tariff for the 50L water heater. This allows the small storage cylinder to reheat as required instead of relying on a restricted off-peak heating period.
This is particularly important with a 50L storage capacity because there is considerably less stored hot water available than in larger 125L, 160L, 250L or 315L electric systems.
If an existing water heater is connected to a different tariff arrangement, the electrical setup should be checked before the Vulcan 50L is ordered as a replacement.
WATER PRESSURE
What Water Pressure Limits Apply to the Vulcan Duomax 50L?
850 kPa ECV Setting
Vulcan lists an expansion control valve setting of 850 kPa for the 50L model.
```

680 kPa With ECV

The listed maximum incoming water supply pressure is 680 kPa where an ECV is installed.

800 kPa Without ECV

The listed maximum incoming water supply pressure is 800 kPa where an ECV is not installed.

```
Vulcan lists a relief valve pressure of 1000 kPa. Incoming water pressure and the existing valve arrangement should be checked as part of the installation.
DUAL-HANDED CONNECTIONS
What Are Dual-Handed Connections?
Vulcan lists the 50L electric water heater with dual-handed connections. This gives the model additional flexibility when matching the unit to existing pipework compared with a water heater that only provides connections on one side.
Connection flexibility can be useful in compact replacement installations, but the actual pipe positions, valves, access and drainage should still be checked before installation.
INDOOR OR OUTDOOR
Can the Vulcan Duomax 50L Be Installed Indoors or Outdoors?
Indoor Installation
Vulcan lists the 50L model as suitable for indoor installation. The position still needs appropriate drainage, plumbing, electrical supply, service access and any required leak-protection or safe-tray arrangement.
```

Outdoor Installation

The water heater is also listed for outdoor installation where it has a suitable position, base, service access and compliant plumbing and electrical connections.

```
COMPACT INSTALLATIONS
Can the Vulcan Duomax 50L Be Installed in a Cupboard?
The compact dimensions of the Vulcan 50L can make it relevant to some cupboard or enclosed installation positions, but physical size alone does not determine whether a location is suitable.
Before installation, the location should be checked for access to the water heater and connections, drainage, leak protection, electrical supply, service clearances and the ability to safely remove and replace the unit in the future.
Do not assume a cupboard is suitable because the cylinder fits. Installation and servicing access, drainage and other requirements still need to be satisfied.
REPLACEMENT & UPGRADES
Can the Vulcan Duomax 50L Replace My Existing System?
Vulcan describes its electric range as suitable for like-for-like replacement applications. The 50L model can therefore be relevant where an existing small electric storage heater is being replaced and the location and services remain compatible.
Like-for-Like Small Replacement
Usually the simplest pathway where an existing compact electric storage unit occupies a suitable position with compatible plumbing and electrical services.
```

Changing Tank Size

Moving from a different-capacity system may require changes to pipework, drainage, electrical services or the installation position.

Relocating the System

Moving the water heater to a new location can involve additional plumbing, drainage, electrical work, access requirements and labour.

Tempering Valve and Element Information

*Element size information:
All electric hot water units are supplied as standard with a 3.6kW element unless otherwise stated on the product page, invoice, or order confirmation.

If a different element configuration is requested, such as 1.8kW or 2.4kW, the hot water unit may still arrive with the standard 3.6kW element fitted from the manufacturer. The requested 1.8kW or 2.4kW element will be supplied separately with the order for installation by a suitably licensed electrical contractor or licensed electrical licence holder.

Any element changeover, electrical connection, disconnection, wiring, testing, or modification must be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor or licensed electrical licence holder. Elements must not be changed, connected, modified, or tested by an unlicensed person.

Alternative elements supplied for non-standard configurations may be generic replacement elements and may not be the same brand as the hot water unit unless specifically stated. Generic elements are supplied to suit the requested element size and electrical configuration, but final suitability must be checked by the licensed installer before installation.

1.8kW and 2.4kW elements supplied separately with a hot water unit include a 12-month supply-only parts warranty from the date of purchase, provided the element has been correctly installed by a licensed electrical contractor or licensed electrical licence holder and used under normal operating conditions.

This element warranty covers the replacement supply of the element only. It does not include labour, call-out fees, electrical work, plumbing work, fault finding, removal, reinstallation, testing, travel, downtime, damage caused by incorrect installation, or any other associated costs. Warranty may be declined where the element has been incorrectly installed, dry-fired, modified, damaged, connected to incorrect voltage or wiring, affected by power issues, used in unsuitable water conditions, or installed by an unlicensed person.

Proof of purchase, installer details, electrical licence details, photos, and/or return of the faulty element may be required before a warranty claim is approved.

**Tempering valve information:
Where a hot water system is capable of delivering water above 50°C, a compliant tempering valve must be installed to control the temperature delivered to personal hygiene fixtures such as showers, baths, basins, and bathroom outlets. This helps reduce the risk of scalding and assists with meeting plumbing compliance requirements.

A tempering valve blends hot and cold water to deliver a safer controlled outlet temperature to required fixtures. The hot water unit itself may store water at a higher temperature, but the water delivered to personal hygiene outlets must be controlled where required by plumbing regulations.

If your property already has a suitable, compliant tempering valve installed, your licensed plumber can assess whether it is appropriate for use with the new hot water system. Existing valves may not always be suitable due to age, condition, compliance requirements, valve type, location, or system compatibility.

If a compliant tempering valve is not already installed, or if the existing valve is unsuitable, one must be supplied and installed by a licensed plumber as part of the hot water installation.

Tempering valves are not automatically included with every supply-only hot water unit unless specifically selected, listed as included, or purchased as part of a suitable valve kit. If a tempering valve is required, please purchase the appropriate valve kit with your order or arrange for your licensed installer to supply and install the correct tempering valve on site.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the installation is completed by appropriately licensed trades and that all required valves, fittings, electrical work, plumbing work, and compliance requirements are allowed for as part of the installation.
