CURRENT PRODUCT IDENTITY

Is It DAB-102NXT or DAB-102CORE?

Both names currently appear in White International's manufacturer material.

DAB-102NXT

This remains the commercial listing name used on White International's current Australian product page.

DAB-102CORE

This is the current product code shown on the manufacturer product page and current technical datasheet for order code 808414.

The underlying pressure pump is the DAB JET 102M, paired with the current Bianco NXT CORE electronic pump controller.

HOW IT WORKS

What Does the DAB-102CORE Do?

The DAB JET 102 is a self-priming centrifugal jet pump. Its internal jet and venturi arrangement allows it to establish suction from a suitable clean-water source positioned below the pump when the pipework is correctly designed and primed.

The NXT CORE controller sits on the pump discharge and monitors system pressure and water flow.

When pressure falls below the programmed start pressure, the controller starts the pump. When water demand ends and flow falls below the controller's minimum-flow threshold, it stops the pump automatically.

This is not a variable-speed pressure system. The DAB JET 102 operates at fixed motor speed. The NXT CORE controller provides automatic on/off control and protection rather than continuously varying motor speed.

NXT CORE CONTROLLER

What Does the NXT CORE Controller Do?

The Bianco NXT CORE is a digital electronic pressure controller designed for single-phase pumps up to approximately 10A and 1.5kW.

It replaces the basic mechanical pressure-switch function in this pressure-system package and adds digital monitoring and pump-protection functions.

  • Starts the pump when pressure falls
  • Stops the pump when water flow falls away
  • Digital real-time pressure display
  • Dry-run sensing
  • Automatic restart after water loss
  • Frequent-start protection
  • Automatic restart after power interruption
  • Adjustable start pressure
  • Plug-and-play connection to the pump
START PRESSURE

Can the Controller Start Pressure Be Adjusted?

Yes. The NXT CORE is factory-set to start the pump at approximately 2.2 bar.

The current controller manual allows adjustment from approximately 0.5 to 6.0 bar.

The start setting still needs to suit the pump curve and the static pressure created by the plumbing system.

A higher start setting does not increase the pump's hydraulic capability. The JET 102 can only produce pressure and flow within its actual pump curve.
STATIC HEAD

Why Does Outlet Height Matter?

The controller starts the pump when system pressure falls below its programmed cut-in value.

If the static water column above the controller already creates pressure equal to or greater than that start setting, the controller may not detect the pressure drop needed to start the pump.

This is particularly important where outlets are substantially higher than the pump or where the pump is installed low on a sloping or multi-level property.

DRY-RUN PROTECTION

What Happens if the Water Source Runs Out?

The NXT CORE includes dry-run sensing.

If the controller detects that the pump is operating without suitable water flow, it stops the pump and enters an automatic restart sequence.

The current controller logic can subsequently test for restored water availability and eventually moves to a periodic restart cycle where the dry condition continues.

Dry-run protection is a fault safeguard rather than a normal operating method. The pump should still be correctly primed and supplied with a reliable water source.
PRESSURE VESSEL

Does the DAB-102CORE Need an External Pressure Tank?

The NXT CORE can control the pump without a conventional large pressure tank, but White International currently recommends fitting a 3L, 8L or 18L external pressure vessel for typical domestic applications.

A small pressure vessel can reduce pump starts caused by minor water losses or low-demand uses such as:

  • Dripping taps
  • Small cistern top-ups
  • Filling a kettle
  • Small filtration-system demands
  • Minor pressure fluctuations

Reducing unnecessary starts can improve system behaviour, reduce repeated pump cycling and reduce noise from frequent short pump runs.

The electronic controller does not make a pressure vessel pointless. The current NXT CORE manufacturer manual specifically recommends a 3L, 8L or 18L vessel for domestic systems.
SELF-PRIMING

Can the DAB JET 102 Draw Water Up From a Tank or Well?

Yes. DAB identifies the JET 102 as a self-priming pump with suction capability of up to approximately 8 metres at sea level under suitable conditions.

This can make the system useful where the pump is mounted above the water level in a tank, shallow well or similar clean-water source.

Actual suction performance depends heavily on the complete installation.

  • Vertical suction lift
  • Horizontal suction length
  • Pipe diameter
  • Air-tight pipe joints
  • Foot or non-return valve arrangement
  • Number of fittings and bends
  • Water level changes
  • Correct initial priming
Eight metres is an upper self-priming capability under stated conditions, not a design target for every installation. Long or restrictive suction pipework can significantly reduce performance.
RAINWATER TANKS

Is the DAB-102CORE Suitable for Rainwater Tanks?

Yes. Rainwater reuse is a manufacturer-listed application for the NXT CORE controller, and the DAB jet pump can be used for compatible clean-water tank supply.

The tank water needs to be sufficiently clean for the pump. Excessive sand, sediment, grit or other abrasive contamination can affect the hydraulic components, mechanical seal and electronic controller.

The pump provides pressure from the rainwater source but does not automatically select between rainwater and mains water.

Automatic rainwater-to-mains changeover is a separate system function. A compatible rainwater-management device is required where automatic mains backup is needed.
HOUSEHOLD PRESSURE

Can the DAB-102CORE Be Used for Domestic Water Supply?

Yes. White International lists household water supply and domestic pressure boosting among the current applications for the DAB-102CORE.

The manufacturer's current selection information lists the system for up to approximately six taps.

That figure should be treated as a selection guide rather than a guarantee that six high-flow fixtures can all operate simultaneously at maximum pressure.

Correct sizing depends on:

  • Required simultaneous water flow
  • Desired pressure at outlets
  • Number and type of fixtures
  • Pipe diameter and length
  • Building elevation
  • Suction lift
  • Filters and valves
  • Garden or irrigation demand
CLEAN WATER

What Type of Water Can the DAB-102CORE Pump?

The system is intended for clean water and other compatible clean, non-volatile liquids without fibres or solids.

Applications listed by the manufacturer include domestic water supply, light garden irrigation, water transfer, washing systems and pressure boosting.

This is not a dirty-water pump. Heavy sediment, sludge, sand and abrasive contamination should be addressed before installing the pressure system.
DRINKING WATER

Is the DAB-102CORE Suitable for Drinking-Water Systems?

White International currently lists the DAB-102CORE with drinking-water approval, and the manufacturer's current product datasheet displays approval for use in contact with drinking water under the applicable Australian and New Zealand test requirements.

This relates to the materials that come into contact with the water.

It does not mean the pump filters, disinfects or converts an unsuitable water source into potable water.

CAST-IRON CONSTRUCTION

What Is the DAB JET 102 Made From?

The current manufacturer datasheet lists a cast-iron pump body and motor support.

The hydraulic internals use technopolymer components including the impeller, diffuser and venturi arrangement, together with stainless-steel adjustment rings.

The mechanical seal uses carbon and ceramic sealing faces.

This construction distinguishes the DAB-102CORE from stainless-steel and technopolymer pressure-pump alternatives while retaining DAB's established JET hydraulic design.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

How Is the DAB-102CORE Powered?

The current system is specified for 220–240V AC, 50Hz single-phase electricity.

The JET 102 motor is rated at approximately 5.1A and the current datasheet identifies a 10A-rated supply lead and three-pin plug arrangement.

The NXT CORE controller connects to the pump using its plug-and-play connection.

Where a suitable electrical outlet already exists in the correct pump position, normal appliance connection is straightforward. Any new power point, circuit extension or other fixed electrical work is additional.

PUMP & CONTROLLER LIMITS

Is the System Rated to 6 Bar or 10 Bar?

Both figures appear in the current technical data because they apply to different components.

JET 102 Pump

The current DAB-102CORE datasheet lists the pump at a maximum system pressure of 6 bar.

NXT CORE Controller

The electronic controller itself is rated to a maximum pressure of 10 bar.

The controller's higher component rating does not increase the maximum pressure rating of the pump. The complete installation needs to respect the lowest applicable component limit.
TEMPERATURE LIMITS

What Water Temperature Can the DAB-102CORE Handle?

The current DAB-102CORE pump datasheet lists a liquid operating range of approximately 2°C to 35°C.

The NXT CORE controller itself has a higher component temperature rating, but the lower JET 102 pump limit governs the normal complete pressure system.

The pump datasheet lists a maximum ambient temperature of approximately 40°C.

DIMENSIONS & ACCESS

How Large Is the DAB-102CORE?

The current manufacturer dimensional drawing lists the JET 102 pump at approximately 414mm long x 178mm wide.

With the NXT CORE controller fitted above the discharge, the overall height is approximately 370mm.

The current datasheet separately lists the pump at approximately 12.5kg and the controller at approximately 1.6kg.

Installation space still needs to allow access to the priming point, suction and discharge fittings, controller display, electrical connection and future pump removal.

INSTALLATION POSITION

Where Should the DAB-102CORE Be Installed?

The pump needs a stable support close enough to the water source to avoid unnecessary suction losses.

The suction pipework needs to remain airtight and should be sized around the actual installation rather than simply matching the smallest fitting that can be connected to the pump.

The controller is installed on the discharge side of the pump before the downstream outlets and can be oriented as permitted by the current controller instructions while maintaining the correct direction of water flow.

WEATHER PROTECTION

Can the DAB-102CORE Be Installed Outside?

The pump and controller can form part of an external water system where the installation provides appropriate environmental protection.

The JET 102 pump is currently listed at IP44, while the NXT CORE controller is listed at IP65.

The NXT CORE manufacturer manual still instructs installers to protect the controller from rain and moisture, so the IP rating should not be treated as permission for unrestricted weather exposure.

A suitable pump position should provide ventilation, drainage, weather protection and service access.

WHEN IS IT NOT THE RIGHT PUMP?

When Should You Consider Another Pressure System?

The DAB-102CORE may not be the best match where:

  • Required simultaneous flow exceeds its useful hydraulic duty
  • The installation needs true variable-speed constant pressure
  • The suction lift or pipe losses are excessive
  • The water contains significant sediment or abrasive solids
  • The site requires automatic rainwater-to-mains changeover
  • A higher-flow irrigation system needs substantially more water
  • The available installation location cannot provide suitable weather protection
  • The electrical supply is unsuitable for the pump
