PURETEC SHOWER WATER FILTRATION

Puretec SF240-CH Double-Life Shower Filter

The Puretec SF240-CH is a compact chrome-plated shower filter designed to reduce chlorine, sediment, chemicals and selected metals in shower water using a combination of carbon and KDF filtration media.

Rather than filtering the entire property's water supply, the SF240-CH installs directly at the shower connection and treats water immediately before it reaches the shower head.

Puretec designed the system for straightforward retrofit installation using a standard ½" BSP / 15 mm connection, with no electrical supply, drain or whole-house plumbing modification required for normal use.

Quick answer: the Puretec SF240-CH is a point-of-use shower filter using carbon and KDF media. Puretec lists reduction of chlorine, sediment, dirt, rust, hydrogen sulphide and selected metals including lead, mercury, magnesium and chromium. The current system operates between 138–550 kPa and 2–50°C, with replacement filtration typically required every 6–12 months depending on usage and water quality.
PRODUCT AT A GLANCE

Puretec SF240-CH Key Details

Carbon + KDF Filtration Media
```
6–12 Months Approx. Filter Life*
```

*Puretec states that filter life is approximately 6–12 months and depends on usage and water quality.

HOW IT WORKS

Carbon & KDF Media Work Together

The SF240-CH uses two different filtration media because each performs a different role in the shower-water treatment process.

Carbon Media

Activated carbon uses adsorption to reduce unwanted odours and chemicals, including chlorine-related treatment within the manufacturer's stated application.

```
KDF Media
KDF uses high-purity copper-zinc granules and an oxidation-reduction process to reduce selected contaminants in the water.
```
POINT-OF-USE SHOWER FILTRATION

Filter the Water at the Shower

The SF240-CH is installed between the shower arm and a compatible shower head, allowing water to pass through the filter immediately before use.

This makes it a practical option where the objective is to reduce chlorine and other manufacturer-listed shower-water contaminants without installing a whole-house filtration system.

The chrome-plated housing is designed to integrate with common chrome bathroom fittings while keeping the filtration cartridge accessible for future replacement.

CHLORINE REDUCTION

Designed to Reduce Chlorine in Shower Water

Chlorine reduction is one of the primary functions Puretec lists for the SF240-CH.

Puretec positions the product for customers who want to reduce chlorine exposure during showering and states that reducing chlorine can help preserve the skin's natural oils and reduce the drying effects associated with chlorinated shower water.

This is a water-filtration product, not a medical treatment. Individual skin and hair responses vary, and this listing does not make claims about treating eczema, dermatitis, allergies or other medical conditions.
SEDIMENT & ODOUR

Additional Shower-Water Treatment

Puretec also lists the SF240-CH for reduction of several physical and aesthetic water concerns.

  • Iron oxide or rust
  • Dirt
  • Sediment
  • Hydrogen sulphide or rotten-egg odour
  • Selected chemical contaminants
  • General shower-water filtration through carbon and KDF media
SELECTED METALS

Puretec-Listed KDF Treatment

Puretec currently lists the combined carbon and KDF media as reducing selected substances including:

  • Lead
  • Mercury
  • Magnesium
  • Chromium
  • Iron
  • Calcium carbonate
Do not treat the SF240-CH as a universal heavy-metal or hardness-removal system. These are manufacturer-listed treatment functions for this shower filter. The SF240-CH is not a laboratory-grade purification system, reverse-osmosis system or conventional water softener.
NOT A WATER SOFTENER

Shower Filtration & Hardness Reduction Are Different

Although Puretec lists calcium carbonate and magnesium among substances reduced by the combined media, the SF240-CH should not be confused with a whole-house ion-exchange water softener.

  • No water-softening resin
  • No salt regeneration
  • No brine tank
  • No automatic regeneration
  • No claim that dissolved hardness is completely removed
  • No whole-house scale-control treatment

If measurable hardness reduction throughout the property is required, a dedicated water-softening system performs a different treatment function.

CHROME FINISH

Designed for Visible Bathroom Installation

The SF240-CH uses a chrome-plated housing intended to complement common chrome shower fittings.

Unlike an under-sink or whole-house filter that is normally hidden from view, the shower filter remains visible between the shower arm and shower head, so its compact housing and finish form part of the bathroom installation.

INSTALLATION

Simple Retrofit to a Compatible Shower Connection

Puretec describes the SF240-CH as a quick and easy DIY installation product and states that no re-plumbing is required for a standard compatible installation.

The filter connects using a standard ½" BSP / 15 mm shower fitting.

  • Remove the existing compatible shower head
  • Install the SF240-CH at the shower connection
  • Reconnect the compatible shower head to the filter
  • Confirm all threaded connections are properly sealed
  • Restore water and check for leaks
  • Follow the current Puretec instructions supplied with the product
Compatibility should still be checked before ordering. Non-standard shower fittings, unusual mounting arrangements or some handheld-shower configurations may require additional consideration.
OPERATING LIMITS

Pressure & Temperature Requirements

138 kPa Minimum Pressure
```
550 kPa Maximum Pressure
2°C Minimum Temperature
50°C Maximum Temperature
```

Puretec specifies protection from freezing. The installed shower-water supply should remain within the current operating limits.

REPLACEMENT FILTER

Puretec SF24-2 Replacement Cartridge Twin Pack

Puretec currently lists the SF24-2 as the replacement cartridge pack for the SF240-CH.

The SF24-2 is supplied as a twin pack, providing two genuine replacement filters for future servicing.

Puretec recommends genuine replacement media to maintain the intended filtration performance of the shower filter.

MAINTENANCE

Plan for Cartridge Replacement Every 6–12 Months

Puretec states that the high-capacity filter lasts approximately 6–12 months, depending on usage and water quality.

Water Quality

Higher contaminant or sediment loading can shorten practical filter life.

```
Shower Usage
More frequent or longer showers increase the amount of water passing through the cartridge.
Replacement Media
Use the manufacturer-listed SF24-2 replacement pack when servicing the SF240-CH.
```
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

Understand the Limits of a Shower Filter

  • It does not filter every tap in the property
  • It is not a conventional whole-house water softener
  • It is not reverse osmosis
  • It is not a UV disinfection system
  • It does not require electricity
  • It does not require a waste-water drain
  • It should not be described as removing 100% of every contaminant
  • It is not a substitute for source-water disinfection where required

FINAL CHECK

Is the Puretec SF240-CH Right for Your Shower?

The Puretec SF240-CH Double-Life Shower Filter is designed for targeted filtration at an individual shower using carbon and KDF media.

Puretec lists the system for reduction of chlorine, sediment, rust, dirt, hydrogen sulphide, chemicals and selected metals. It uses a ½" BSP / 15 mm connection, operates between 138–550 kPa and 2–50°C, and uses the genuine SF24-2 replacement cartridge twin pack.

Before ordering, confirm the shower connection and available clearance, make sure the water supply is within Puretec's pressure and temperature limits and plan for cartridge replacement approximately every 6–12 months depending on water quality and usage. Where filtration is required at every tap and shower, a whole-house system should be considered separately.
