PURETEC UNDERSINK DRINKING WATER FILTRATION
Puretec Z12 Quick-Twist Undersink Water Filter with Dedicated Tap
The Puretec Z12 is a compact undersink drinking-water filtration system designed for mains and town water. It combines Puretec's Ultra Z 0.1-micron filtration technology with a dedicated chrome DFU130 drinking-water faucet to provide filtered cold water directly at the kitchen sink.
Unlike a traditional multi-housing filter, the Z12 uses a single Z1-R quick-twist cartridge containing Puretec's three-stage filtration process. The cartridge helps reduce sediment, rust, sand, silt, chlorine, chloramine, selected chemicals, unpleasant taste and odour while providing protection against cysts and bacteria such as E. coli.
The compact filter can be mounted horizontally or vertically beneath the bench and does not require electricity or a drain connection.
Installed Today offers the Puretec Z12 for supply-only ordering across supported Australian locations, with supplied-and-installed options available across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas.
Puretec Z12 at a glance: the Z12 is a mains-water undersink filter supplied with a dedicated DFU130 faucet. It uses one Z1-R quick-twist cartridge containing a three-stage Ultra Z filtration process rated to 0.1 micron, with a manufacturer-listed system flow of 5.5 L/min and capacity of up to 30,000 litres.
WHAT IT DOES
What Does the Puretec Z12 Do?
The Z12 connects to the cold mains-water line beneath the kitchen sink and filters water before sending it to the supplied DFU130 drinking-water faucet.
Puretec's Ultra Z system combines several filtration functions within one cartridge. It first reduces larger particulate matter, then targets chlorine, chloramine, chemicals, taste and odour before the final Ultra Z membrane provides fine 0.1-micron filtration.
The system is intended as a dedicated point-of-use drinking-water filter rather than a whole-house filtration system.
IMPORTANT DISTINCTION
Is the Puretec Z12 a Three-Cartridge Filter?
No. The Z12 uses one Z1-R quick-twist replacement cartridge.
The term “three-stage filtration” refers to the three filtration processes built into that single cartridge rather than three separate filter housings.
One cartridge, three filtration stages. This makes the Z12 substantially more compact than a conventional three-housing undersink filtration system.
WHO IT SUITS
Who Is the Puretec Z12 Best For?
Mains-Water Homes
Puretec specifically designs the Z12 for mains and town water supplied to residential kitchens.
Compact Undersink Spaces
The single-cartridge format occupies significantly less space than a conventional twin or triple filter-housing arrangement.
Dedicated Filter-Tap Kitchens
The Z12 suits customers who want filtered drinking water from a separate faucet while retaining their existing kitchen mixer for normal hot and cold water.

ULTRA Z FILTRATION
How Does the Puretec Z12 Three-Stage Filtration Work?
Stage 1 – Particle Reduction
The first filtration stage reduces particles and helps clarify the water by targeting sediment, rust, sand, silt and algae.
Stage 2 – Chemical & Taste Filtration
The second stage targets chlorine and chloramine together with bad taste, odour and selected chemicals such as pesticides and sulphur compounds.
Stage 3 – Ultra Z Membrane
The final Ultra Z membrane filters to a nominal 0.1 micron and Puretec states that it provides protection against cysts and bacteria such as E. coli.
WHAT IT REDUCES
What Does the Puretec Z12 Filter?
- Sediment
- Rust
- Sand and silt
- Fine particles
- Chlorine
- Chloramine
- Bad taste
- Unpleasant odour
- Selected chemicals and pesticides
- Cysts
- Bacteria such as E. coli
- Very fine particulate matter
The Z12 is not a substitute for disinfection of unsafe source water. Puretec states that the system must not be used on microbiologically unsafe water or water of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the filtration system.
DEDICATED FILTER TAP
Does the Puretec Z12 Use My Existing Kitchen Mixer?
No. The standard Z12 package includes the Puretec DFU130 dedicated drinking-water faucet.
The home's existing mixer continues to provide normal hot and cold water, while filtered cold drinking water is supplied separately through the DFU130.
If filtered water through the main kitchen mixer is preferred, a Puretec Tripla or other system specifically designed around a three-way mixer should be considered instead.
DFU130 FAUCET
Puretec DFU130 Drinking-Water Faucet
The DFU130 is the dedicated drinking-water faucet supplied with the Z12 package.
Puretec lists the faucet itself at up to 7 L/min, while the complete Z12 filtration system is rated at 5.5 L/min. The lower complete-system flow figure is therefore the relevant specification when considering filtered-water performance.
The faucet requires a 12.5 mm diameter tap hole and provides a simple dedicated outlet for filtered drinking water.

WATER SOURCE
Can the Puretec Z12 Be Used With Rainwater?
The Z12 is specifically designed for mains and town water.
Puretec's current installation guide describes the required connection as a cold-water line – mains only.
Do not describe the Z12 as a general rainwater purification system. Untreated rainwater or another private water source should use equipment specifically selected for its sediment, chemical and microbiological treatment requirements.
FILTER MAINTENANCE
How Often Should the Puretec Z12 Filter Be Replaced?
Puretec's current Z12/Z18 user guide recommends changing the cartridge every 6–12 months, depending on incoming water quality and household usage.
The same guide specifies that the cartridge should be changed at least every 30,000 litres or 6–12 months, whichever occurs first, or earlier if a noticeable change in taste, odour or flow occurs.
Varying chlorine, sediment and organic-substance levels can shorten the service life of the cartridge.
QUICK-TWIST CARTRIDGE
How Is the Puretec Z1-R Cartridge Replaced?
The Z12 uses Puretec's valve-in-head quick-twist cartridge system.
The old Z1-R cartridge is rotated approximately one-quarter turn anticlockwise and removed from the head. The replacement cartridge is inserted and rotated clockwise until locked into position.
Puretec then requires the filter to be flushed before drinking water is used.

COMPACT ULTRA Z FILTRATION
Why Choose the Puretec Z12?
The Z12 combines 0.1-micron Ultra Z filtration, a dedicated drinking-water faucet and a compact single-cartridge format.
Instead of using multiple bulky housings, the three filtration stages are contained inside the Z1-R quick-twist cartridge. This saves under-sink space while still targeting sediment, chlorine, chemicals, taste, odour, cysts and bacteria such as E. coli.
The quick-twist design also simplifies routine cartridge replacement compared with opening and cleaning a traditional filter housing.

FINAL CHECK
Is the Puretec Z12 Right for You?
The Puretec Z12 is primarily suited to mains-water kitchens wanting compact, fine drinking-water filtration through a separate dedicated faucet.
Its main features are a single quick-twist Z1-R cartridge containing three filtration stages, nominal 0.1-micron Ultra Z filtration, protection against cysts and bacteria such as E. coli, a 5.5 L/min system flow rate, DFU130 dedicated faucet and compact horizontal-or-vertical mounting.
