PURETEC HYBRIDPLUS RAINWATER FILTRATION & UV SYSTEM
Puretec Hybrid P1 Whole House Rainwater Filtration & UV System
The Puretec Hybrid P1 combines three large-format filtration stages and Radfire™ ultraviolet treatment inside Puretec's lockable HybridPlus cabinet, while leaving provision for a compatible pressure pump to be installed separately.
The current HYBRID-P1-LF uses a PL05MP2 5 micron pleated sediment cartridge, CB05MP2 5 micron carbon block and PX01MP2 1 micron fine sediment cartridge before water passes through the RL6 ultraviolet stage.
Unlike the Hybrid P3 and P6, the P1 does not include a Grundfos pump. Puretec specifically positions it as a pump-provision model for installations where a compatible existing or separately selected pressure system will be used.
Quick answer:
the Puretec Hybrid P1 is a three-cartridge plus UV rainwater treatment system with pump provision only. Puretec advertises the P1 at up to 120 L/min, while its RL6 UV stage is rated at 54 L/min at 40 mJ/cm², 70 L/min at 30 mJ/cm² and 130 L/min at 16 mJ/cm². The required UV dose and complete installation determine the appropriate treatment flow.

HOW IT WORKS
Three Filtration Stages Followed by UV Treatment
Stage 1 – Sediment
The PL05MP2 washable 5 micron pleated cartridge reduces dirt, rust, sand, silt and suspended particulate material.
```
Stage 2 – Carbon
The CB05MP2 5 micron carbon block reduces chlorine, sediment and unwanted taste and odour.
Stage 3 – Fine Sediment
The PX01MP2 1 micron graded polypropylene cartridge provides fine filtration before the UV chamber.
Stage 4 – Radfire™ UV
The RL6 ultraviolet system provides manufacturer-rated microbiological treatment where source-water quality, flow and UV-dose requirements are maintained.
Pump Provision
The cabinet includes space for a compatible pressure pump, but no pump is supplied with the standard P1.
Flexible Connections
Puretec allows the water-flow connection arrangement to be configured from the left or right side of the cabinet.
```
PUMP PROVISION MODEL
Use an Existing or Separately Selected Pressure System
The defining feature of the Hybrid P1 is that Puretec supplies the filtration and UV package without an integrated Grundfos pump.
This makes the P1 suitable where a compatible pressure pump already exists or where the pump needs to be selected separately around the tank, suction conditions and property demand.
Puretec lists a maximum available pump space of approximately 560 mm high × 540 mm wide × 240 mm deep inside the P1 cabinet.
STAGE 1
PL05MP2 5 Micron Pleated Sediment Cartridge
The first filtration stage uses Puretec's PL05MP2, a washable 4.5" × 20" MaxiPlus sediment cartridge.
Puretec manufactures the cartridge from reusable non-woven polyester fabric pleated around a polypropylene support core.
- 5 micron nominal filtration
- 4.5" × 20" MaxiPlus format
- Washable pleated construction
- Dirt reduction
- Rust reduction
- Sand and silt reduction
- Large filtration surface area
- Manufacturer-listed cartridge flow up to 180 L/min
STAGE 2
CB05MP2 5 Micron Carbon Block
The second stage uses the Puretec CB05MP2, a bonded activated-carbon block cartridge measuring approximately 4.5" × 20".
Puretec lists the cartridge for reduction of chlorine, unwanted taste, odour and sediment.
5 Micron
Puretec lists a nominal 5 micron filtration rating.
```
48 L/min
The individual CB05MP2 is listed at 48 L/min. This is a cartridge rating and should not be confused with the system or UV flow figures.
Chlorine
The bonded carbon media provides chlorine reduction within its rated operating conditions.
Taste & Odour
Designed to reduce unwanted taste and odour associated with compatible water supplies.
Bonded Carbon
The cartridge uses a bonded activated-carbon structure rather than loose granular media.
SilverPlus
Puretec incorporates SilverPlus technology to inhibit bacterial growth within the cartridge media.
```
STAGE 3
PX01MP2 1 Micron Fine Sediment Cartridge
The final cartridge stage uses Puretec's PX01MP2, a nominal 1 micron, 4.5" × 20" graded polyspun sediment cartridge.
Puretec lists the cartridge for reduction of dirt, rust, sand, silt, algae and other suspended particles.
The PX01MP2 is positioned before the ultraviolet stage because fine particulate matter can interfere with UV transmission by shielding microorganisms from the UV light.
RADFIRE™ UV
RL6 46W Ultraviolet Treatment
The Hybrid P1 finishes its water-treatment process with Puretec's RL6 46W ultraviolet lamp inside the Radfire™ chamber.
Puretec lists the Hybrid P1 for up to 99.99% treatment of E. coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts using Radfire™ ultraviolet technology where the applicable source-water, flow and UV-dose conditions are maintained.
UV treatment depends on water clarity, flow and UV dose.
The P1 should not be presented as a universal treatment system for every untreated water source. Additional pre-treatment can be required where source-water conditions fall outside Puretec's recommended parameters.
UV FLOW RATES
Flow Depends on the Required UV Dose
| UV Dose |
Puretec Listed Flow |
Application Note |
| 40 mJ/cm² |
54 L/min |
Higher UV dose at a lower flow rate |
| 30 mJ/cm² |
70 L/min |
Puretec identifies this as the industry-standard drinking-water UV reference |
| 16 mJ/cm² |
130 L/min |
Lower UV dose at a higher flow rate |
The advertised 120 L/min P1 flow does not replace UV-dose sizing.
Where a particular UV dose is required, use the corresponding manufacturer-listed UV flow and account for the complete filtration and plumbing system.
NO BUILT-IN PUMP
The P1 Relies on a Compatible Pressure Source
The Hybrid P1 does not include a Grundfos pump or a listed pump flow rate.
A suitable existing or separately selected pressure system therefore needs to provide the water pressure required for the installation.
- No Grundfos pump supplied as standard
- No standard pump-flow specification
- Pump provision inside the cabinet
- Compatible with a range of pumps
- Maximum pump space approximately 560 × 540 × 240 mm
- Pump selection should suit tank, suction and property demand
NO STANDARD MAINS CHANGEOVER
Mains-to-Rainwater Controller Is Not Included
Puretec's current P1 specification states that the mains-to-rainwater controller is not included.
The standard Hybrid P1 should therefore not be advertised as automatically switching between rainwater and mains water.
Automatic mains backup should be planned separately where required.
Puretec's Hybrid range includes other configurations with mains/rain control, but this function is not standard equipment on the P1.
WATER SOURCE
Designed Specifically for Rainwater
Puretec currently describes the Hybrid P1 as designed specifically for rainwater applications.
Puretec also states that the HybridPlus platform may be suitable for other water sources depending on actual water quality.
Other sources should therefore be assessed rather than automatically treating the P1 as universally suitable for mains, bore, dam or surface water.
CABINET DESIGN
Weather-Protected HybridPlus Enclosure
Gull-Wing Doors
Lockable side-opening doors provide access to cartridges, UV components and the pump-provision space.
```
Weather Protection
Puretec describes the HybridPlus cabinet as weatherproof for appropriate installations.
Rodent Protection
The enclosed design is intended to help protect internal system components.
Tamper Resistance
A locking arrangement helps restrict unauthorised access to internal equipment.
WATER QUALITY
UV Treatment Depends on Suitable Source Water
Puretec states that Hybrid UV systems are designed for common rainwater and that ultraviolet effectiveness depends on the clarity of the water.
Where water contains unusually high levels of dissolved solids, hardness, iron, manganese or suspended material, deposits can build on the quartz sleeve and reduce UV transmission.
Source-water assessment can be important before installation.
Where water clarity or chemistry is uncertain, additional pre-treatment or water-quality testing may be required before relying on the Hybrid P1's UV stage.
INSTALLATION
Professional Plumbing Installation Is Required
The term "plug-and-play" describes the way Puretec packages the filters, UV equipment and pump provision inside one cabinet. It does not remove the need for permanent plumbing and electrical installation.
- Cold-water installation
- 1" / 25 mm system connections
- Suitable tank and pressure-system arrangement
- Approved pressure limiting where required
- Backflow protection where required for point-of-entry installation
- 220–240 VAC / 50 Hz electrical supply
- Surge protection for the UV equipment
- Suitable RCD or earth-leakage protection
- Structurally appropriate cabinet location
- Clear servicing and UV-lamp removal space
The Hybrid P1 should not be treated as a DIY whole-house filter installation.
Permanent plumbing, pressure-system selection and electrical requirements should be completed in accordance with Puretec's current instructions and applicable trade requirements.
